Lowman is a small unincorporated rural census-designated place in the western United States, located in Boise County, Idaho. It is nestled along the north bank of the South Fork of the Payette River in the central part of the state, at an elevation of 3,800 feet above sea level. Payette Lake is a natural lake, formed by glacial activity, situated in the upper drainage basin of the Payette River, which drains into the Snake River in southwestern Idaho. Outflow from the lake is regulated for irrigation purposes by a small dam completed in 1943. The normal maximum lake surface elevation of 1,520 metres above sea level is attained in July; a normal drawdown of 1.7 metres is completed by December. The lake surface area and volume, excluding islands, are 20.5 square kilometres and 0.75 cubic kilometres , respectively; mean and maximum depths are 36.8 metres and 92.7 metres , respectively; and shoreline length is about 36 kilometres . Redfish Lake is an alpine lake in the western United States in central Idaho. It is located in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, at the base of the Sawtooth Mountains in Custer County, south of Stanley. It is named for the brilliant sockeye salmon that once returned from the Pacific Ocean in such massive quantities that the lake shimmered red during spawning season. Currently, only a small percentage of the wild sockeye succeed in making through the several hydroelectric dams along their route back to the lake to spawn. Sockeye must not be targeted while fishing and must immediately be released if they are caught. The surface elevation of Redfish Lake is 6,547 feet above sea level. The lake is 4.5 miles long and 0.72 miles wide, with a maximum depth of 387 feet , and 11 miles of shore...

Ponderosa State Park is a public recreation area occupying a peninsula in Payette Lake on the northeast edge of McCall in Valley County, Idaho, United States. The state park's 1,515 acres include a second unit, called North Beach, located six miles north of McCall at the northern extremity of the lake. The park has hiking and biking trails, guided walks, evening programs, beach, picnic area, and opportunities for skiing, snowshoeing, and wildlife watching.

Sawtooth Scenic Byway | Visit Idaho

The Sawtooth Scenic Byway has the distinction of being the 100th National Forest Scenic Byway. Beginning in Shoshone, the southern leg of the byway features the new Black Magic Canyon geological attraction. The route then rolls north through fertile agricultural land to the resort towns of Hailey, Ketchum, and Sun Valley.

Salmon River Scenic Byway | Visit Idaho

The northern end of the Salmon River Scenic Byway begins on the Montana border at the Lost Trail Pass (elevation 6,995 feet). Lewis and Clark came this way in 1805, and the spectacular view from this vantage point has changed little since that famous exploration of the West two centuries ago. The route follows the Salmon River -- also called the River of No Return -- through the Salmon-Challis National Forest through the historic city of Salmon. The river and its forks serve as important natural pathways into Idaho's rugged back country. The deer, elk, and moose that often graze along the hills and meadows that line this road provide a glimpse of the wild country beyond.

Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway

The Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway starts in Boise. It follows Idaho 21 north to the historic mining town of Idaho City, where you can still pan for gold in a nearby stream bed. Campgrounds and fishing opportunities dot the route from Lowman to Granjean along the South Fork of the Payette River, as you slowly climb along the byway's northeasterly route.

scenic route idaho falls

the night portion of this was in tucuncari new mexico where we spent the 1st night on the road. the last part with the buffalo was in yellowstone natl. park everything in between was on a scenic loop out of idaho falls idaho, it was a beautiful 27 mile loop, all video was shot with my sony cam off the road not mounted to the bike.
