Lynden is the second largest city in Whatcom County, Washington, United States. Located within the Metropolitan Area of Bellingham. Named and established in 1874 near the site of the Nooksack Indian village Squahalish . Lynden is approximately 5 miles south of the Canada–US border, with Lynden-Aldergrove operation and port of entry hours between 8:00 a.m. and midnight. It is also located about 15 miles north of Bellingham, and about 95 miles north of Seattle. The population of Lynden is about 14,259 according to the United States Census Bureau. Residents of Lynden are known as Lyndenites. Lynden is also home to the Northwest Washington Fair.

The base elevation is at 3,500 feet , while the peak of the resort is at 5,089 feet . It is about 10 miles south of the 49th parallel, the international border with Canada. The ski area is home to the world's greatest recorded snowfall in one season, 1,140 inches , recorded during the 1998–99 season. Mt.
