Malappuram is a city in the southern Indian state of Kerala, spread over an area of 33.61 km2 . The first municipality in the district formed in 1970, Malappuram serves as the administrative headquarters of Malappuram district. Divided into 40 electoral wards, the city has a population density of 2,083 per square kilometre . As per the 2011 census Malappuram Urban Agglomeration is the fourth largest urban agglomeration in Kerala state with a total population of 1,698,645. Malappuram is situated 54 km southeast of Calicut and 90 km northwest of Palghat.

Thirumandhamkunnu Temple is a historically significant Hindu temple in Angadipuram, which was the capital of Valluvanad Rajavamsham,in Malappuram district, Kerala state, South India. The temple deity, Thirumandhamkunnil amma, was the paradevatha of the kings of Valluvanad, the local feudal kings ruled the area in the Middle Ages. The assassins of Valluvanad king set out from this temple to Thirunavaya, to participate in the famous Mamankam festival. A memorial structure called the chaver thara can be found in front of the main entrance of the Thirumanthamkunnu Temple.The temple is also an important pilgrim center, especially for the eleven-day-long annual festival celebrated in March and April months of the Gregorian calendar. Kadampuzha Devi Temple is a Hindu temple and pilgrimage center at Kadampuzha in Malappuram district, Kerala, India. The temple is dedicated to goddess Durga , a Devi. There is no idol in the temple, and the Goddess is worshipped in a pit. There are also shrines for Sastha and Serpent deities, along with the worship of Ganapathi, Narasimha and Sudarshana. There is also a Shiva temple nearby, called 'Madambiyarkavu'. The temple, owned by Malabar Devaswom Board under the Government of Kerala, is administered through a trust consisting of the Hindu-Variar family and non hereditary co-opted trustees. It is the richest temple under Malabar Devaswom Board.

Kodikuthimala also known as the Ooty of Malappuram is a hill station in the Malappuram district of Kerala in India. Located in Vettathur and Thazhekode villages, at a height of 522 m above sea level, this is the highest geographic peak in Amminikkadan hills. The British hoisted their flag on this hilltop during a survey, thus getting the name Kodikuthimala. It is almost two decades ago that the hilltop started featuring on the tourism map of Kerala. Around 70 acres of land in this area is earmarked by the Tourism Department for various projects. Kodikuthimala, at an altitude of 1,713-ft above sea level, has a watch tower that is visited by tourists because of the vantage point it offers. Alathiyur Hanuman Temple is a famous Hindu temple located at Alathiyur near Tirur, Malappuram district, Kerala state, India.
