Manzhouli is a city in Inner Mongolia, China. It's near the border of Russia and Mongolia. I visited in winter, when day-time temperatures were around -26 Celsius (-14 Faherenheit). It seems like it's in the middle of nowhere but actually it's only a 21/2-hour flight from Beijing.

Fortunately, the hotel provided a luxurious base to stay at while exploring the winter wonderland of Mongolian, Russian and Chinese culture.
