Marenisco is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Marenisco Township, Gogebic County, Michigan, in the United States. As of the 2010 census, the CDP had a population of 254, out of a total population in the township of 1,727. The name of the community and the township was formed by combining the first three letters from Mary Enid Scott, the wife of E. H. Scott, a timber producer.The community is located in the western part of Marenisco Township, in the western part of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. US Highway 2 is a component of the United States Numbered Highway System that connects Everett, Washington, to the Upper Peninsula of the US state of Michigan, with a separate segment that runs from Rouses Point, New York, to Houlton, Maine. The Porcupine Mountains, or Porkies, are a group of small mountains spanning the northwestern Upper Peninsula of Michigan in Ontonagon and Gogebic counties, near the shore of Lake Superior. The Porcupine Mountains were named by the native Ojibwa people, supposedly because their silhouette had the shape of a crouching porcupine. They are home to the most extensive stand of old growth northern hardwood forest in North America west of the Adirondack Mountains, spanning at least 31,000 acres . In these virgin forests, sugar maple, American basswood, eastern hemlock, and yellow birch are the most abundant tree species. The area is part of the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park.

Lake of the Clouds is a lake located in Ontonagon County in the Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan within the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. The lake is situated in a valley between two ridges in the Porcupine Mountains. Surrounded by virgin wilderness and stunning vistas, the lake is a popular destination for hikers, campers, and fishermen.The lake is a prominent feature of the park, and can be viewed at the Lake of the Clouds Overlook at the west terminus of former Michigan highway M-107. The state park occasionally hosts a nighttime sky watch at the lake. The lake is fed from the east end by the Carp River Inlet and the outflow from the western end is the Carp River, which empties into Lake Superior on the boundary between Ontonagon and Gogebic County.

Copper Falls State Park is a 3,068-acre state park in Wisconsin. The park contains a section of the Bad River and its tributary the Tylers Forks, which flow through a gorge and drop over several waterfalls. Old Copper Culture Indians and later European settlers mined copper in the area. The state park was created in 1929 and amenities were developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps and the Works Progress Administration. In 2005 the park was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a site with 10 contributing properties.
