The Southwestern Tagalog Region, officially designated as MIMAROPA Region, is an administrative region in the Philippines. It was also formerly designated as Region IV-B until 2016. It is one of two regions in the country having no land border with another region . The name is an acronym combination of its constituent provinces: Mindoro , Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan. The region was part of the now-defunct Southern Tagalog region until 17 May 2002.     Mount Mantalingajan is the highest point in the province of Palawan, Philippines. located in the southern part of Palawan Island that forms the highest part of the Beaufort Mountains Ultramafics geological region, a series of ultramafic outcrops of Eocene origin, of which Mount Victoria forms the largest contiguous land area. The peak of the mountain is the highest point on Palawan.The mountain forms the center of the Mt. Mantalingahan Protected Landscape , a national park covering the entire Mantalingahan Mountain Range. The protected area status of MMPL was proclaimed last June 23, 2009, by virtue of Proclamation No. 1815. The protected area covers an area of 120,457 hectares.
