Monticello is a city located in San Juan County, Utah, and is the county seat. It is the second most populous city in San Juan County, with a population of 1,958 at the 2000 census. The Monticello area was settled in July 1887 by pioneers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 1. Delicate Arch Arches National Park
Delicate Arch is 60-foot-tall freestanding natural arch located in Arches National Park near Moab, Utah, USA. It is the most widely recognized landmark in Arches National Park and is depicted on Utah license plates and on a postage stamp commemorating Utah's centennial anniversary of admission to the Union in 1996. The Olympic torch relay for the 2002 Winter Olympics passed through the arch.

2. Natural Bridges National Monument Blanding
Natural Bridges National Monument is a U.S. National Monument located about 50 miles northwest of the Four Corners boundary of southeast Utah, in the western United States, at the junction of White Canyon and Armstrong Canyon, part of the Colorado River drainage. It features the thirteenth largest natural bridge in the world, carved from the white Permian sandstone of the Cedar Mesa Formation that gives White Canyon its name. The three bridges in the park are named Kachina, Owachomo, and Sipapu , which are all Hopi names. A natural bridge is formed through erosion by water flowing in the stream bed of the canyon. The Hideout Golf Club is a public golf course in Monticello, Utah. Golfweek has rated it the #24 Municipal Course in America. It was opened in 2002 after completion in 2001 by Forrest Richardson. Of note is the fact that the course was built as part of a major reclamation project involving the former site of a uranium mine and mill, dismantled in the 1960s by the United States Department of Energy. The only directive of the Department was that the reclaimed land be vegetated and protected from erosion, and a golf course fit that bill. The Hideout Golf Club occupies land across from the former mill, with the work to build the course involving restoration of the old mill site land into a natural, open space park.

In this 12th episode of our 2017 trip across the United States on the Trans America Trail (aka: TAT), we start our journey in the amazing state of Utah. Starting from the town of Monticello near the Colorado border, we travel deep into the woods of Manti-La Sal National Forest to then descend to the popular town of Moab. From there we ride our bikes on one of the most challenging and breathtaking places during our trip, the amazing red rock desert mountains near Canyonlands National Park. Just another amazing section of the TAT. This Trans America Trail crosses the country from the Atlantic Coast to the Pacific Coast mostly off-road. (Eng) Wilson Arch is located 24 miles south of Moab on Highway 191 between mile markers 100 and 101 near the La Salle Junction. The arch itself is huge, and can easily be seen from the road.

Dog Friendly Moab/Monticello Adventure

Finally getting around to post our videos from last year! So excited to share the fun with everyone!
Here is a brief slideshow of the scenic beauty near Moab and Monticello Utah. Both places are very dog friendly even though National Parks do NOT allow dogs on most trails (probably to protect wild life, trail maintenance, and other hikers from excited pups). There are many trails that Ruby was allowed on and most hikers enjoyed her fun-loving attitude.
