Lake Tekapo is the second-largest of three roughly parallel lakes running north–south along the northern edge of the Mackenzie Basin in the South Island of New Zealand . It covers an area of 83 square kilometres , and is at an altitude of 710 metres above sea level. The lake is fed at its northern end by the braided Godley River, which has its source in the Southern Alps to the north. The lake is a popular tourist destination, and several resort hotels are located at the township of Lake Tekapo at the lake's southern end. The Lake Tekapo Regional Park, administered by Environment Canterbury, is located on the southern shore of the lake. An astronomical observatory is located at Mount John, which is to the north of the town, and south of the small Lake Alexandrina.

Franz Josef Glacier / Kā Roimata o Hine Hukatere is a 12 km long temperate maritime glacier located in Westland Tai Poutini National Park on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island. Together with the Fox Glacier 20 km to the south, and a third glacier, it descends from the Southern Alps to less than 300 metres above sea level.The area surrounding the two glaciers is part of Te Wahipounamu, a World Heritage Site park. The river emerging from the glacier terminal of Franz Josef is known as the Waiho River.

On 29 May 1953, Hillary and Nepalese Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Norgay became the first climbers confirmed to have reached the summit of Mount Everest. They were part of the ninth British expedition to Everest, led by John Hunt. Hillary became interested in mountaineering while in secondary school. He made his first major climb in 1939, reaching the summit of Mount Ollivier. He served in the Royal New Zealand Air Force as a navigator during World War II. Lake Pukaki is the largest of three roughly parallel alpine lakes running north-south along the northern edge of the Mackenzie Basin on New Zealand's South Island. The others are Lakes Tekapo and Ohau. All three lakes were formed when the terminal moraines of receding glaciers blocked their respective valleys, forming moraine-dammed lakes. The glacial feed to the lakes gives them a distinctive blue colour, created by glacial flour, the extremely finely ground rock particles from the glaciers. Lake Pukaki covers an area of 178.7 km², and the surface elevation of the lake normally ranges from 518.2 to 532 metres above sea level. Today we headed to Mt cook and decided after a quick look at the glacier to do the Hooker Valley walk which was gorgeous! Even though the walk claims to take 4 hours, it only took us just over 2!

Road Trip to Lake Tekapo and Mount Cook | New Zealand

We did this road trip to Lake Tekapo and Mount Cook in New Zealand and it was amazing! So many great landscapes!

We started our trip to lake tekapo where we spent the night and watched the stars nearby the lake tekapo. Lake tekapo is part of UNESCO stargazing places so if you are there wake up in the middle of the night and look up!

Next stop in our road trip in New Zealand was the Lake pulaski and the mount cook. We only say the mount cook from far because we did not have more time and we had to get back to Christchurch, so we stayed south of the lake pukaki and took amazing pictures there.

If you are wondering what to do in New Zealand, don't worry there is plenty of things to do in New Zealand. Roadtrip in new zealand are very famous because you can see a lot of things as the county is massive.
