Naco, a Census-Designated Place located in Cochise County, Arizona, United States had a recorded population of 1,046 during the 2010 census. It's located directly across the United States–Mexico border from its sister city Naco, Sonora. Naco is best known for an accidental 1929 air raid, is the first and only municipality in the Continental United States to have been aerially bombed by foreigners. The present-day unincorporated town of Naco, Arizona, was established in the early 20th century. The area was originally settled by the Nahua and Opata Indians. 1. Chiricahua National Monument Willcox
Chiricahua National Monument is a unit of the National Park System located in the Chiricahua Mountains of southeastern Arizona. The monument was established on April 18, 1924, to protect its extensive hoodoos and balancing rocks. The Faraway Ranch, which was owned at one time by Swedish immigrants Neil and Emma Erickson, is also preserved within the monument.

Francisco Vázquez de Coronado y Luján was a Spanish conquistador and explorer who led a large expedition from Mexico to present-day Kansas through parts of the southwestern United States between 1540 and 1542. Vázquez de Coronado had hoped to reach the Cities of Cíbola, often referred to now as the mythical Seven Cities of Gold, which is a term not invented until American gold-rush days in the 1800s. His expedition marked the first European sightings of the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River, among other landmarks. His name is often Anglicized as Vasquez de Coronado.

Native American Arts, Culture & Archaeology, Verde Valley, Arizona

Hopi, Navajo and other Native American artists and presenters from the Southwest region come to Camp Verde, Arizona (just south of Sedona and Flagstaff, AZ) to participate in March and September programs with Native American films, art, dances, cultural talks and archaeology presentations/activities at our Verde Valley Archaeology Center.
