1. Wat Phra That Phanom That Phanom
Wat Phra That Phanom is the sacred precinct of the Phra That Phanom chedi, located in the district of the same name, in the southern part of Nakhon Phanom Province, northeastern Thailand. According to legend, this structure contains The Buddha's breast bone, and as such, it is one of the most important Theravada Buddhist structures in the region. It was originally built in the 16th century by the Laotian King Setthathirath of Lan Xang. Each year, a festival is held in That Phanom to honor the temple. This festival lasts for one week, during which thousands of people make pilgrimages to honor the shrine. According to a Fine Arts Department marker on the site, it fell down in 1975, but was rebuilt with funds raised by public subscription, and from the government. In Thai folk Buddhism, Wat P...

There are a total of 40,717 Buddhist temples in Thailand as of 31 December 2004, of which 33,902 are in current use, according to the Office of National Buddhism. Of the 33,902 active temples, 31,890 are of the Maha Nikaya and 1,987 are of the Dhammayuttika Nikaya orders of the Theravada school, while 12 are of the Chinese Nikaya and 13 are of the Anam Nikaya orders of the Mahayana school. Two hundred and seventy-two temples, 217 of the Maha Nikaya order and 55 of the Dhammayut order, hold the status of royal temple. Nakhon Pathom must see place

This is a Nakhon Pathom must see place. 1 of the biggest stupas in the world, Phra Pathommachedi or Phra Pathom Chedi, พระปฐมเจดีย์, is a simply stunning stupa located right in the center of the city. A very royal place in town, indeed. If you're traveling in the city, visiting the stupa as well as those beautiful temples around is mandatory. It really is majestic. Even though Nakhon Pathom has lots of other amazing places to see, Phra Pathom Chedi should be on the top of your list, trust me on this one.
