    The Adirondack is a higher-speed passenger train operated daily along the Empire Corridor by Amtrak between New York City and Montreal. The trip takes approximately 11 hours to cover a published distance of 381 miles , traveling through the scenic Hudson Valley and the Adirondack Mountains. The Adirondack operates as train 68 towards New York, and as 69 from New York to Montreal. The Adirondack service is financed by the New York State Department of Transportation. The Adirondack trains suffer from numerous delays along the route because almost none of the trackage is owned by Amtrak, and also because the route crosses an international boundary where Immigration procedures can take up to two hours.     The Saratoga and North Creek Railway was a heritage railway that began operation in July 2011. Passenger operations ceased on April 7 2018, and the final 'revenue' run was made in May 2018. The railroad ran in the upper Hudson River region of the Adirondack Mountains, in the U.S. state of New York. The railroad operated between North Creek and Saratoga Springs, New York, where it connects with Amtrak's Ethan Allen Express and Adirondack services.

    The Arcade & Attica Railroad is a shortline railroad that hauls freight between Arcade, New York and North Java, New York. The railroad originally connected Arcade with Attica, New York, however the right of way from North Java north to Attica was abandoned in 1947 due to flooding on the Tonawanda Creek. The principal business of the ARA is handling agricultural products , lumber, dairy feed, and other commodities between Arcade and North Java. ARA continues to use its GE 65-ton as primary freight power, and sometimes will double-head it with the GE 44-ton if more than 4 cars need to be moved at once.
