Lake Coeur d'Alene is a dam controlled lake in northern Idaho, in the northwest United States. Its northern end is in the city of Coeur d'Alene. It spans 25 miles in length and ranges from 1 to 3 miles wide with over 109 miles of shoreline. The lake was named after the Coeur d'Alene people.

It is about 20 miles from the Canada–United States border and 5 miles from the town of Bonners Ferry. It is bordered by the Selkirk Mountains to the west, the Kootenai River to the east, and state lands to the south. The refuge provides diverse habitat types, especially wetlands and hardwood and coniferous forest.
