  • 1. Golden Temple - Sri Harmandir Sahib Amritsar
    The Golden Temple, also known as Sri Harmandir Sahib or Darbar Sahib , is a Gurdwara located in the city of Amritsar, Punjab, India. It is the holiest Gurdwara and the most important pilgrimage site of Sikhism.The temple is built around a man-made pool that was completed by Guru Ram Das in 1577. Guru Arjan – the fifth Guru of Sikhism, requested Sai Mian Mir – a Muslim Pir of Lahore to lay its foundation stone in 1589. In 1604, Guru Arjan placed a copy of the Adi Granth in Harmandir Sahib, calling the site Ath Sath Tirath . The temple was repeatedly rebuilt by the Sikhs after it became a target of persecution and was destroyed several times by the Muslim armies from Afghanistan and the Mughal Empire.     Likir is a village in the Leh district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is located in the Leh tehsil, in the Ladakh region. Khalatse is a nearby trekking place.It is perhaps most famous for the nearby Klu-kkhyil gompa . The Likir Monastery was first built in the 11th century and was rebuilt in the 18th century, and currently has a 25-foot-tall gold-covered Buddha statue. It is occupied by monks of the Gelukpa order. It is located 52 km from Leh.
