The Northern Group of Forces was the military formation of the Soviet Army stationed in Poland from the end of Second World War in 1945 until 1993 when they were withdrawn in the aftermath of the fall of the Soviet Union. Although officially considered Polish allies under the Warsaw Pact treaty, they were seen by most Poles as a Soviet occupation force.

    Bory Tucholskie National Park is a national park in Poland, created on July 1, 1996. It covers an area of 46.13 square kilometres of forests, lakes, meadows and peatlands. The park is in the northern part of Poland, in Chojnice County in Pomeranian Voivodeship, in the heart of the Tuchola Forest, the largest woodland in Poland. It is surrounded by a larger protected area called Zaborski Landscape Park. The park forms the core of the Tuchola Forest Biosphere Reserve, designated by UNESCO in 2010.

    Biebrza National Park is a national park in Podlaskie Voivodeship, northeastern Poland, situated along the Biebrza River. The largest of Poland’s 23 National Parks, the Biebrza National Park was created on September 9, 1993. Its total area is 592.23 km2 , of which forests cover 155.47 km², fields and meadows covering 181.82 km² and marshes with an area of 254.94 km².
