O'Hara Township is a township with home rule status in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania in the United States six miles northeast of Downtown Pittsburgh. The community was long organized as a township, and retains Township in its official name, but adopted a home rule charter in 1973 and is no longer subject to the Pennsylvania Township Code. The population was 8,407 at the 2010 census.It is named for James O'Hara , an early American industrialist in western Pennsylvania, and a revolutionary war general.

    Bayernhof Music Museum features a major collection of automated musical instruments from the 19th and 20th centuries. Located six miles northeast of downtown Pittsburgh in the suburb of O'Hara Township, Pennsylvania, it is housed in German-style mansion sited on an 18-acre , dramatic overlook some 540 feet above the Allegheny River Valley. Bayernhof is the name of the mansion itself, a $4.2 million project completed in 1982 as a private residence by Charles Brown III , founder and CEO of Gas-Lite Manufacturing Company in Pittsburgh. The 19,000-square-foot house includes a rooftop observatory, an indoor cave, a swimming pool with a 10-foot waterfall, 10 fireplaces, eight full baths, three powder rooms, three full-size kitchens as well as a completely restored copper still.
