Palairos is an ancient city and a modern town in Aetolia-Acarnania, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform Palairos is part of the municipality Aktio-Vonitsa, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 205.843 km2. The municipal unit was formed as the independent municipality Kekropia in 1994 from the former communities Palairos and Pogonia, and was expanded with the former communities Vatos, Plagia and Peratia as a part of the 1997 Kapodistrias reform. The name was changed to Palairos in 2004.

    The Church of the Parigoritissa or Paregoretissa is the 13th-century Byzantine metropolitan church of the Greek city of Arta. Part of the building used to house the Archaeological Collection of Arta. The church was founded in ca. 1290 by the Despot of Epirus, Nikephoros I Komnenos Doukas , and his second wife Anna Kantakouzene. The church eventually became bankrupt, and was turned into a dependency of the Monastery of Kato Panagia. In 1578, it is attested as a female convent.The church is a large, almost square three-storey building. It is fed by the small river Ermitsa, and by a canal that connects the lake with the larger Lake Trichonida to its east. Its outflow is the river Dimikos, which drains into the river Acheloos. The city of Agrinio lies 6 km to the northeast.

So, it is the longest sandy beach of European Union, The name Monolithi comes from Greek roots Μόνος + Λίθος = single + stone. It was an oversea rock 10X10m, near the coast, until year 1942, when German and Italian soldiers destroyed the rock with mortar fire. A photograph before 1942 is available.     The Monument of Zalongo is a 1961 monumental sculpture by George Zongolopoulos, commemorating the Dance of Zalongo, a mass suicide of women and children in 1803. It is located at 700 meters altitude on Mount Zalongo, near Preveza, Greece, from which it is visible. The closest village is Kamarina. One can access the monument from Saint Dimitrios Monastery , which leads to the top via a cobbled lane of 410 steps. The monument depicts six abstract female figures holding hands. It is 18 meters in length, 13 meters high and is made of concrete supported by 4,300 whitish limestone blocks . The construction took six years, from 1954 to 1960, and was financed by two Pan-Hellenic student fundraising drives.
