3 Days in Tallinn: Trip to Estonia

On my Europe trip earlier this year I spent 3 days in beautiful Tallinn, Estonia.

Tallinn is a lovely Baltic city and a great place to start if you're hoping to explore the Baltics. It's affordable, offers plenty of do for visitors, and it's an easy ferry from Helsinki or a quick bus to Riga.

The well-preserved Old Town is picturesque and from the hill you're able to take advantage of 360-degree panoramic views of Tallinn down below.

Despite being a fairly budget-friendly travel destination Tallinn still isn't a popular city on the tourist route in North-Eastern Europe. This means you'll find more Europeans walking around the city versus North Americans. This helps to keep prices relatively low as well as giving English-speakers a fairly off-the-beaten-path experience.

I only had 3 days in Tallinn although I can't wait to return and spend more time exploring the city!

Pakri LIGHTHOUSE - Tallest in Estonia. Paldiski. Tuletorn. Маяк.

Pakri Lighthouse located on the Pakri Peninsula (on the coast of the Baltic Sea), few kilometers from the town Paldiski in Estonia.It is the tallest lighthouse in Estonia with height of 52 meters (171 ft). The first known lighthouse to be built on the Pakri Peninsula was in 1724. The location of the lighthouse was allegedly picked by Tsar Peter the Great. In the year of 1889, the current lighthouse made out of limestone, was built 80 metres away from the old one. The Pakri Old Lighthouse was partially demolished, and used as a paraffin store. The lighthouse and lighthouse's keepers house were severely damaged during World War II, however these structures have survived and in 2001, the lighthouse was fully renovated.

Первый известный маяк был построен на полуострове в 1724 году. Расположение маяка было выбрано царём Петром Великим. В 1889 был построен новый маяк из известняка, который находился на расстоянии 80 метров от старого. Старый маяк был частично разрушен. Маяк и дом его смотрителя были сильно повреждены во время Второй Мировой войны. Однако строения устояли и были реновированы в 2001 году. Сейчас маяк открыт для посетителей.

SUUR MUNAMÄGI - Highest Peak in Estonia. Самая высокая вершина в Прибалтике.

Suur Munamägi, 318 metres from the sea level, is the highest point of the Baltics. The observation tower on Suur Munamägi provides its visitors with a splendid 50 km range view of the Estonian nature.

The current tower, the sixth in line, was constructed in 1939, and reconstructed in 1969. A total of 29.1 metres in height, it was renovated once more in 2005 and an elevator was built into the back of the tower.

A person standing on top of the tower is standing 346.7 metres above the sea level. The first tower was built in 1812. The height of Suur Munamägi makes it one of the most important national symbols of Estonia.
