Ita Fort in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh's Papum Pare district - 14th century fort
Beautiful Ita Ford at at the heart of the capital city in Papum Pare district of Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. This historical monument the Ita Fort of Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh was established by the rulers of the Ahom dynasty, somewhere between 14th and 15th century. The excavated ruins of this historical fort are one of the major tourist attractions in Itanagar and being imposing it was highly irregular in shape.
The impressive but highly uneven structure of the fort is said to be built with over 8 million bricks, 45 cubic meters of stone and is known to have been made by 4600 man-days. It is a pride and one of the most important historical structures of Arunachal Pradesh, so much so that the capital Itanagar also has its name derived from Ita Fort ( Fort of Bricks.)

1) Tawang Monastery

The monastery is three stories high. It belongs to the Gelug school of Mahayana Buddhism and had a religious association with Drepung Monastery of Lhasa.
2) Sessa Orchid and Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary
Located in Bomdila. Sessa Orchid Sanctuary covers more than 100 square km area of land. Doimara and Tenga reserve forests form a part of this sanctuary. Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary covers an area of 217 square km. It is home to various birds like eagle, hornbill, kingfishers, ducks, Bengal tiger, langur, Asian elephant, black bear, red panda and many more.
3) Mehao and Sally Lake
Both the lakes are easily accessible from Roing. Dense green forest with beautiful flowers and plants make it a photographer’s delight. There is a town, located at the foothill of the Mishmi Hill, it is lively with friendly people. Reh festival of Idu Mishmi is celebrated in the month of February 1 while Solung festival of Adi in September 1 every year with great joy.
4) Namdapha National Park And Tiger Reserve
It is the largest protected area in the Eastern Himalaya biodiversity hotspot. The park covers a massive 1985.23 square kms of land, which has a wide range of flora and fauna.
5) Meghna Cave Temple
This ancient cave temple dates back to 5000 years. It is situated at Daporijo and dedicated to Lord Shiva. Located at an altitude of 300 feet, the temple offers stunning views of the surrounding area.
6) Ita Fort
It is one of the most important historical sites in the state. The fort has an irregular shape, built mainly with bricks dating back to the 14th-15th Century. Given the fact that the fort was built in an area that is far from being a comfortable place for construction adds value to the fort and highlights the workmanship.
7) Tibetan Refugee Settlement Camp
It is one of the oldest settlements for Tibetan refugees and is located 4 km away from Miao. The camp boasts of producing superior quality carpets, a larger portion of which goes to the global market. A beautiful Buddhist monastery in the mid of camp is one of the major attraction for the tourist.
8) Komsing
This is the place where the British had erected an epitaph/memorial stone of Sir N.Willamson who was killed by Narmi Manmur Jamoh. There is also a long and high suspension bridge constructed by the British.

Ganga lake is blessed with crystal clear blue water and reflection of Himalayan ranges on water gives beautiful scenery. This place is surrounded by pine and bamboo groves. Fish Farm is a popular tourist attraction where breeding of high altitude fishes is done. Yazali town, Arunachal Pradesh
Yazali - Hidden in a green valley surrounded by the natural beauty of the forest. A small town located in the Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh in North-East India. It is a peaceful and picturesque haven blanketed in the natural beauty of sub-tropical forests with lush green hills.
Yazali lies 142 km away from Itanagar, the Capital of Arunachal Pradesh and is situated between Ziro and Itanagar. Just before reaching Yazali one can see the huge Ranganadi Dam. The Ranganadi River becomes narrow as it enters the valley of Yazali, gradually becoming the Panyor River which is also one of the major tributaries of the majestic Brahmaputra. Blessed with natural resources and rich in biodiversity, Yazali is home to the Nyishi tribe. A tribe that believes that they descend from the Abotani, their mythical forefathers. Like most of the tribes of north-east India, the Nyishi are nature worshippers and follow the Donyi Polo religion.
Yazali has both a favourable climate and soil, suitable for Horticultural crops of mainly oranges and bananas which grow in abundance in vast areas of the forested land. People here are mainly involved in fishing and the rice cultivation. It is the staple diet of the locals and is supplemented with leafy vegetables and meat. Bamboo is a prime resource used for everything from the construction of houses to being eaten as well as being used as a vessel to cook in.
Life in Yazali is quite simple. People love to showcase their colourful culture which is reflected in their festivals. Traditionally rich in culture, people here still prefer to live in Bamboo shaft houses which are 2 to 3 feet above the ground level. Each house has its own small in-house fireplace built right in the centre of the room in a square shape. The houses are not too far from each other and are basically clustered in small groups. The view of the little huts scattered over a plain area along with the Panyor River flowing across the heart of Yazali, surrounded by hills is truly amazing.
The Panyor is the river that flows down from Mengio in Papum Pare narrowing down until it reaches Yazali in Lower Subansiri District. From Ranganadi Dam, the river is known as Ranganadi till it meets the Brahmaputra in Assam beyond North Lakhimpur. A viewer clarified this to us. Thanks!

Ahom Palace (Karenghar) is situated at Gargaon in Sivasagar District 0f Assam (India).Gargaon was the capital of the Ahom kingdom for many years. It was built by the Ahom king Suklenmung (Gargoyaan Rojaa) in 1540. . It lies 13 km east of present-day Sivasagar town.The old palace was destroyed and the present seven-storied palace was rebuilt around 1752 by Rajeswar Singha (Suremphaa, 1751-1769).
