Alonissos, Greece's secret island utopia HD
The magical Alonissos is the island of relaxation and serenity, offering refreshing holidays to its visitors. This beautiful island, with its unbelievable beaches, may not have a lively nightlife but will offer you excitements you will not find elsewhere easily. You can see the monachus monachus seals as well as dolphins at the Alonissos national sea park. The rich sea world around the Alonissos is filled with countless archaeological findings. There are several isolated beaches, some accessed by car and some by boat. Taste all the local specialties and enjoy the local wine. The holidays in Alonissos are going to be exciting so book now your ferry tickets and live some unique moments on the wonderful island of the Sporades Islands.
Alonnisos “musts”
- Kokkinovrahos beach is a unique sight and a “must” destination to enjoy the sea or have a picnic under pine-trees. The bright red colors set up an extraordinary scenery and offer countless opportunities for great shots.
- Ask for the “Alonnisos Paths Guide”, a small book with the island’s path and their secrets. Even if you don’t like walking, you’ll definitely want to cross and meet most of them.
- One of Greece’s most beautiful and eerie sunsets is the one you can see at Agios Dimitrios wetland. You’ll see everything being painted silver. Don’t try to explain it, just watch and enjoy.
- Have a daily cruise in the National Marine Park of Alonissos. It’s located in six tiny islands, similar to exotic places.
- The island has one of the few probably the only – pirate museums in the world. It’s located in Patitiri village, it has a huge collection of exhibits and a great view to the sea.
- Taste the delicious domestic sweets “hamali”, “Amygdalota”, “fouskakia” ( a kind of doughnut) and “soultana” (sweet pie).

This little green island has become something more than a backpackers paradise, its warmth hospitality and simplicity as well as its natural beauty attracts more and more quality tourism that was spoiled temporary by the international boost of the nearby island of Skopelos after a Hollywood blockbuster that was filmed there. When you first arrive, you might be a little disappointed, since the harbour Patitiri is not your typical picturesque Greek village. It was Alonissosbuilt after the earthquake in 1965, so the buildings are new. There are many nice taverns there, though, and a little beach that is clean, and a museum of interest.
Chora is an absolutely beautiful little village with small cafes looking over the Sporades island, local artists' shops and lovely rooms to rent.
In general, Alonisos is a quiet island where you can enjoy total relaxation. Of course, there are many restaurants, bars and organised excursions, but it is not a commercialised place. The National Marine Park of Alonissos is the first Nature Park of Greece, it was established in 1992.
seal The Marine park of Alonissos has an area of 1597 square km and includes other six smaller islands and 22 uninhabited islets. In the area of the Marine park you can swim and take photographs and is not allowed fishing, hunting and camping. The main reason of the park is the protection of the monk seal as well as many other species of birds and fishes

Alonissos Greece is the northern island of the Sporades Islands group. It is located east of Skopelos. It is an authentic Greek island mostly known for its incredible natural beauty and its amazing beaches. The waters of the Greek island are considered as the cleanest in the Aegean Sea and have been declared a marine park because they are a breeding ground for the rare species of monk seal, the Monachus Monachus.
