Pentwater is a village in Oceana County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 857 at the 2010 census. The village is located within Pentwater Township. Pentwater is home to Mears State Park. The name Pentwater comes from Pent or Penned up waters. The entrance to the channel is notoriously shallow and for many years dictated the size of vessels that the village was able to accommodate.

The state park sits on Lake Michigan, directly north of a channel that leads into Pentwater Lake. The park land, which was once owned by lumber baron Charles Mears, was donated to the state by his daughter Carrie Mears in 1923. The park offers fishing, swimming, camping, picnicking, and a one-mile hiking trail that ascends the Old Baldy sand dune.

Michigan Has Real Beaches

I go home to Michigan every year to celebrate the 4th of July with family and friends on Lake Huron. When I told one of my California friends that I stay on the beach, they looked at me seriously and said “You know that’s not a real beach, right?”

They clearly don't understand. Michigan has real beaches. I hope this video convinces you. Northern Michigan summers are the best. My family has a place in Oscoda Michigan.

Michigan has a tourism slogan called Pure Michigan. It's used everywhere in their print and tv ads and I think it accurately describes the best parts of Michigan. The beaches, vacations up north, and the beauty of it all definitely yell Pure Michigan.

Lake Michigan Camp and Retreat: A new place for old-fashioned fun

Located south of Pentwater, Michigan, the Lake Michigan Camp and Retreat began as a Methodist Church Family Camp back in the 1950s. Today, it maintains the same family friendly atmosphere but is open to the public. Originally designed to accommodate families traveling in station wagons and camping in tents and small trailers, recent improvements are allowing the camp to cater to many of the modern large rigs available today.

We recently camped there as part of an event hosted by the Keep Your Daydream YouTube channel. In addition to the fun we had hanging out with other KYD Insiders, we also rediscovered a great campground that Jessi spent many years at as a kid.

South Haven, MI offers a lot of great restaurants, shopping, and attractions for everybody. I check out the Farmers Market and then the rest of the downtown area. Later in the video, I walk along the Black River as it empties out into Lake Michigan. At the end of the video, I walk out to the South Haven South Pierhead Lighthouse.

Traverse City, MI is the cherry capital of the world. Well known for the cherries which are grown in the area, people come from all over to enjoy the cherries especially during the Cherry Festival held every July.
