Perak , also known by its honorific Darul Ridzuan or Abode of Grace , is one of the thirteen states of Malaysia, and the fourth-largest one. It borders Kedah at the north; Thai Yala Province to the northeast; Penang to the northwest; Kelantan and Pahang to the east; Selangor to the south, and the Straits of Malacca to the west. The state's administrative capital of Ipoh was known historically for tin-mining activities until the price of the metal dropped, severely affecting the state's economy. The royal capital, however, remains at Kuala Kangsar, where the palace of the Sultan of Perak is located.

  • 2. Sam Poh Tong Cave Temple Ipoh
    The Sam Poh Tong is a Chinese Buddhist temple built within a limestone cave and is the oldest and most famous cave temples in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. The temple built in raw limestone cave in the mountains which is located about 5 km from Ipoh. The temple facade dates back to the 1950s and a stiff climb of 246 steps will lead you to an open cave with an excellent view of Ipoh and its surroundings. Till today, nuns and monks who dedicate their lives to Buddha still occupy the Sam Poh Tong.It is the largest cave temple in Malaysia and contains art work such as a reclining Buddha figure. The temple also offers visitors the opportunity to release turtles into its turtle pond as a means of balancing one's karma.

    Victoria Bridge is a single track railway truss bridge located in Karai, in the state of Perak, Malaysia. It is one of the oldest railway bridges in the country, having been constructed between December 1897 and March 1900 by the Perak Government Railway as a crossing over the Perak River to serve the local tin mining industry. The bridge was officially opened by the late Almarhum DYMM Sultan Idris Murshidul Adzam Shah I the Sultan of Perak at that time. The Victoria Bridge remained in use until 2002, when a wider concrete girder bridge built parallel to the old bridge was completed to take over the role of handling rail traffic.     The Taiping War Cemetery is the final resting place for Allied personnel who were killed during World War II, particularly the Malayan Campaign and the Japanese occupation of Malaya. Servicemen who died after the war or during their posting in northern Malaya prior to the Malayan Emergency are also interred here. The cemetery is located in Bukit Larut, Taiping, Perak, Malaysia and was erected and maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. There are more than 850 World War II casualties commemorated in this cemetery, including more than 500 who remain unidentified.
