Thailand’s most remote district, Umphang remains relatively untouched, and is home to pristine jungles, caves, cliffs, wild rivers and waterfalls.
The area is still relatively unknown to foreign tourists and makes the perfect venue for those seeking a real ‘off the trail adventure’. The remoteness and wildness of Umphang, especially during the wet season make it arguably the most adventurous and off the trail destination in Thailand.
Typical activities to enjoy in Umphang are trekking, camping, white water rafting, staying overnight in Karen Villages, and visiting Thailand’s largest waterfall, Thi Lo Su.
The time of year is a major factor when exploring Umphang. Impassable roads, raging rivers and wild camping during the wet season (June-October) offer unrivaled adventure opportunities which will test even the hardiest of outdoor enthusiasts. During the dry months (November-May) the landscape is much more accessible, making it suitable for small children and the less adventurous.

Welcome to Nan Province
Tucked into Thailand’s northeastern corner, Nan is a remote province to be explored for its natural beauty. Nan’s ethnic groups are another highlight and differ significantly from those in other northern provinces. Outside the Mae Nam Nan Valley, the predominant hill tribes are Mien, with smaller numbers of Hmong, while dispersed throughout Nan are four lesser-known groups seldom seen outside this province: the Thai Lü, Mabri, Htin and Khamu.
Nan (Thai: น่าน, pronounced [nâːn]) is one of the northern provinces (changwat) of Thailand. Neighboring provinces are (from south clockwise): Uttaradit, Phrae, and Phayao. To the north and east it borders: Sainyabuli of Laos.
Chiang Mai Nightlife - A Night out in the Lady Bars
Chiang Mai has a vibrant nightlife scene. With clubs and bars open all over the city, there isn't much that you can't find here.
Tonight I took a trip to an area of town known as Loh Kroi road, also known as the boxing area.
The street is lined with beer bars and towards the end of the street, you'll find another large complex with at least twenty more bars.
The bar complex also hosts live Muay Thai kickboxing fights and although known for its bar girls and massage shops, Loh Kroi is far less intense and full on compared to places like Pattaya or Bangkok.
It's a fun place where tourists, backpackers and locals meet to have a good time.
Usually, the bars close down between 12 and 1am but sometimes they will stay open later.
There are other clubs and late night venues open in Chiang Mai that stay open a lot later but I didn't make it to them in this video.
