In the eastern part of Fujian, there is an island shaped like a unicorn dancing in the Taiwan Strait, which is the main island in Pingtan county and the nearest island from mainland China to Taiwan. It is a comfortable and beautiful island with the blue sea and clear sky, the flying gulls, and the fishing songs.
Pingtan has a unique location advantage and rich tourist resources. The wide sea area is connected with the open sea, and numerous reefs are interspersed. The natural landscape is varied and fascinating. It is also located in the subtropical marine climate area, with no severe cold winter, no hot summer, and rare snow and rich sunshine, and the beautiful scenery on the island. It has a wide and flat natural bathing beach, and a unique marine erosion landform, known as a tourist attraction for lakes, seas and sandy islands.
In 1994, the eight major scenic spots such as Shipaiyang, Jun Mountain, Wangye Mountain, God in Haitan, Stone Scenery in Nanzhai, Qingguan Peak (General Mountain), Shanqi'ao, and Tannan Bay were listed in the National Natural Heritage list in 2005 approved by the State Council, and also included in the declaration of Word Natural Heritage. The vigorous development of tourism has injected vitality into the third industry of Pingtan county. The 400 thousand island people, famous for their hospitality, diligence and wisdom, open their arms and welcome guests from home and abroad to travel and enjoy, to invest in business and to share the amazing scenery of the island.

Sand Sculpture Festival in Pingtan Coutny
Pingtan County in Fujian Province recently held a Sand Sculpture Festival. During the opening ceremony, tourists were not only treated to the sight of amazing sculptures, but got to views firework shows and taste seafood and other delicious snacks. Aside from great scenery, the island also offers a very nice Sand Sculpture Park on its eastern side.
