1. The Huron County Nature Center & Wilderness Arboretum Port Austin
The Thumb is a region and a peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan, so named because the Lower Peninsula is shaped like a mitten. The Thumb area is generally considered to be in the Central Michigan region, located east of the Tri-Cities, and north of Metro Detroit. The region is also branded as the Blue Water Area of Michigan. The counties which constitute the Thumb are those forming the extended peninsula that stretches northward into Lake Huron and Saginaw Bay. There is no formal declaration for which of these counties are part of the Thumb. While virtually all definitions of The Thumb include Huron, Tuscola, and Sanilac counties, most common definitions are extended to include Lapeer and St. Clair counties as well.

2. Dow Gardens Midland Michigan
Dow Gardens is a 110-acre botanical garden located at 1809 Eastman Avenue, Midland, Michigan, United States. It is open to the public, and currently contains over 1700 varieties of plants hardy in mid-Michigan. The main entrance has geographical coordinates of 43.623378°N 84.249612°W / 43.623378; -84.249612. The Dow Gardens were started in 1899 by Herbert Dow, founder of The Dow Chemical Company, and gardener Elzie Côte, on eight acres of flat, sandy land. The Herbert H. Dow House is located at the southwest corner of the gardens. The Alden Dow House and Studio are on the west side of the gardens, separated by a pond. Subsequent generations of the Dow family have continued to develop the gardens.

Michigan is a U.S. state located in the Great Lakes Region of the United States of America. The name Michigan is a French alteration of the Ojibwe word mishigamaa, meaning large water.
It has the longest freshwater coastline of any political subdivision in the world, being bounded by four of the five Great Lakes. Michigan is one of the leading U.S. states for recreational boating. Port Huron stretches 7 miles along the St. Claire river at the base of lake Huron and is a boater and water lovers paradise. It's also an international border crossing, marked by the spectacular blue water bridge. The downtown is bustling with new restaurants, shops, and great places to enjoy this awesome city.
