Bennington Monument Tallest Structure in Vermont
Famous August 1777 Revolutionary War battle fought here by a group of Vermont, New Hampshire & NY volunteers against British forces, who were defeated, in this critical victory for the Colonists. The Monument looks similar to the Washington DC one, though much taller, & is of Vermont stone. Views from the top afford a panorama of Vermont's Green Mountains to the north & NY state to the west. The obelisk stands as the tallest war monument in the world.
