The prison closed in 1924, and has since been restored as a museum focused on the story of Irish nationalism. Take a step back in history and embark on a guided tour of the largest unoccupied gaol in Ireland.
For more history lessons, continue your journey to the Christ Church Cathedral. It’s considered the seat of the Church of Ireland and Roman Catholic Archbishops of Dublin, and manuscripts date it back to 1030. The establishment has experienced many changes and restorations over the years, making it a prime place to trace the city’s history. Learn about King Henry VIII’s role and the church’s long rivalry with St. Patrick Cathedral.
After dabbling in Dublin’s past, head to Temple Bar to get a sense of the city’s culture. This cobblestone strip is considered the heart of its nightlife, but truthfully, it’s captivating at any time of the day. Spend an afternoon window shopping, and then step into one of the bars for a traditional pub experience—you’ll fit right in with a pint and a plate of pub fare.
No Dublin visit is complete without exploring the Guiness® Storehouse and the Old Jameson Distillery. Today Geoff & Vicki’s travels take them to the other side of Ireland, starting in Dublin and then going west across country to Tralee. Geoff is very excited to be on a Proper Train and Vicki gets her castle fix in Killarney. But although it’s another beautiful day, they can’t quite shake the blues…

Vicki and Geoff are taking All The Stations international! The duo will embark on a journey to visit all 198 railways stations in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
All The Stations - Ireland will explore the length and breadth of the Iarnród Éireann and Northern Ireland Railways networks. Along the way, Vicki and Geoff will meet the communities connected to the lines, interviewing local people and those who work on the railways, to find out about their experiences of travelling by train.

Summer Holidays In Dublin (1 Of 3)
This summer for the second consecutive year we have managed to return to Dublin again.
We have done all the typical things. We have gone to St. Stephen's green, walked down O'Connell st. and Grafton street, played pitch & putt, watched rugby and hurley matches, travelled down and up to Howth and Bray, visited Guinness storehouse and Christh Church Cathedral, bought souvenirs in Carrolls and Dunnes Stores, clothes in Arnotts, books in Hodges and Figgis and of course... we went for a couple of pints in Temple Bar.
Once more we had a georgeous time in Dublin. It has been a pleasure to remember the rare auld times and of course to see again our Irish family.
Thanks again for keeping in touch and for your hospitality and friendship.
