Roadtrip: Historiallinen Latvia ja ihana luonto

Latvian valloitus autolla jatkuu! Nyt kierretään historiallista latviaa ja tutustutaan useisiin ihaniin kohteisiin mitä on tarjolla.
Päivä aloitettiin Araisi - Arkeologisellapuistolla, josta löytyy kivi, bronssi ja rautakauden asumukset, Latgallien perustama upea puukylä saaren päällä sekä entisen kivilinnan rauniot.
Cesiksessä ja Rezeknessä tutustumme upeisiin linnoihin sekä huhujen mukaan Latvian parhaalla kebabilla.
Yöpymispaikkamme Stikānin läheisyydestä löydettiin mukava reippailulenkki aamuksi, eli parin kilometrin pitkospuut suojärven ympäriltä ja ne olivat kyllä erittäin kiva startti päivälle.
Koska urheilua ei ollut tarpeeksi niin jatkoimen Raznan kansallispuistoon, Volkenbergin linnaan, joka sijaitsee rinteen päällä. Kiipeäminen päälle oli kyllä sen arvoista, koska näkymät olivat aivan huikeat.
Oli erittäin antoisat kaksi päivää ajella autolla ja nauttia erittäin puhtaasta ja kivasta luonnosta sekä upeista historiallisista kohteista.

Daugavpils - tourist city
Daugavpils – the second largest city of Latvia and the centre of East-Latvian region – has given to the world the outstanding painter Mark Rothko, the King of Tango Oscar Strok and the actor, stage director, public and political figure Solomon Mikhoels (Vovsi). The symbols of the city are the 19th century fortress and the Church Hill that has gathered the churches of four different confessions.

Ventspils is located on the Black Sea in the north of Latvia’s west coast and since the thirteenth century has been a city of sailors. From the fourteenth to the sixteenth centuries it was member of the German Hanse and in the middle of the seventeenth century a shipyard was built for warships and merchant ships, which led to the prosperity of the city. On the banks of the Venta River is the only castle of the Order Of The Princedom Of Kurzeme, built by the Livonian Order at the end of the thirteenth century. The harbour has been well-developed and boasts a long history, from the Wenden Tribe and the Crusaders, right up to the present day. A trip around the harbour highlights the fact that Ventspils is the most important port in Latvia and from where oil from Siberia is loaded as well as chemical products and also wood and fish. After the Northern War and a devastating plague, the city lay in ruins and the harbour, unused. However, following the extension of the harbour at the end of the nineteenth century, life returned. When, in 1904, a rail link was opened to Moscow and Rybinsk, the harbour became important once again. In this region, people have always lived by the sea and the ice-free harbour gave rise to Ventspils’ deserved prosperity.

Riga old town walk is one of the amazing tours that you can do while in Latvia. Walking down the cobble-stoned streets of labyrinth takes you way back in time in the most relaxed way you can imagine. How about a walk through the Hanseatic city' Nothing could ever come close to the heavenly feeling you get walking through this magnificent city full of momentous cites.

Sightseeing tour in Sigulda, a place situated about 53kms away from Latvia's capital, Riga. This mountainous region is quite breathtaking and very quaint hence its nickname 'the small Latvian Switzerland'. This region is full of historical castles built way back in the 13th century by the Teutonic knights' order and the Riga bishops. Out of the 3 major castle build only one castle has remained that gives it quite a picturesque site that you must visit.

The famous spa resort of Jurmala is situated just a few kilometers on the gulf of Riga. This is a must visit tourist destination for everyone who appreciates nice sandy beaches, conifer forests which are along the coastline and a magnificent climate. This place is full of small cottages, wooden houses, spa centers and good luxurious hotels. It's the only place in Latvia where you can enjoy spa mineral water and some curative medical mud.
