Rifle is a regional center of the cattle ranching industry located along Interstate 70 and the Colorado River just east of the Roan Plateau, which dominates the western skyline of the town. The town was founded in 1882 by Abram Maxfield, and was incorporated in 1905 along Rifle Creek, near its mouth on the Colorado. The community takes its name from the creek.

2. Harvey Gap State Park Rifle
Dean Arnold Corll was an American serial killer who, along with two teenaged accomplices named David Owen Brooks and Elmer Wayne Henley, Jr., abducted, raped, tortured, and murdered at least 28 teenage boys and young men in a series of killings spanning from 1970 to 1973 in Houston, Texas. The crimes, which became known as the Houston Mass Murders, came to light after Henley fatally shot Corll. Corll's victims were typically lured to a succession of addresses in which he resided between 1970 and 1973 with an offer of a party or a lift. They would then be restrained by either force or deception, and all were killed by either strangulation or shooting with a .22-caliber pistol. Corll and his accomplices buried 17 of their victims in a rented boat shed; four other victims were buried in woodl...

Helen Hunt Falls - In A Colorado Minute (287)

Helen Hunt Falls can be found just south of Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs in the North Cheyenne Cañon Park. It's free to enter and was recommended to us on our Manitou Springs Road Trip over the much hyped Seven Falls. I'll still have to check that one out and compare.

The drive through Cheyenne Cañon to the waterfalls is lovely with many opportunities to stop along the Cheyenne Creek. Once you arrive at the Helen Hunt Falls parking lot, you can see the Helen Hunt waterfall, and the footbridge crossing it, right away. After a short but steep hike, you arrive at the top of Silver Cascade Falls with the great view of the foothills, valley and city below as seen in the video.

The waterfall is not named after the actress Helen Hunt, but Helen Maria Hunt Jackson, a 19th century poet, writer and activist for Native American rights.

También puedes alquilar una sesión de tiro, con o sin instructor. De hecho, el día siguiente de nuestro paso por el lugar una niña de 6 años mató de un tiro en la cabeza a su instructor (Charles Vacca) de tiro (era el regalo de cumpleaños que le había hecho su padre).
