Hellbrunn Palace is an early Baroque villa of palatial size, near Morzg, a southern district of the city of Salzburg, Austria. It was built in 1613–19 by Markus Sittikus von Hohenems, Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg, and named for the clear spring that supplied it. Hellbrunn was only meant for use as a day residence in summer, as the Archbishop usually returned to Salzburg in the evening; therefore, there is no bedroom in Hellbrunn.

Salzburg Cathedral is the seventeenth-century Baroque cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Salzburg in the city of Salzburg, Austria, dedicated to Saint Rupert and Saint Vergilius. Saint Rupert founded the church in 774 on the remnants of a Roman town, the cathedral was rebuilt in 1181 after a fire. In the seventeenth century, the cathedral was completely rebuilt in the Baroque style under Prince-Bishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau to its present appearance. Mozart's birthplace was the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at No. 9 Getreidegasse in Salzburg, Austria. The Mozart family resided on the third floor from 1747 to 1773. Mozart himself was born here on 27 January 1756. He was the seventh child of Leopold Mozart, who was a musician of the Salzburg Royal Chamber.Now a museum, Mozart's birthplace introduces visitors to the early life of the composer, his first musical instruments, his friends, and his passionate interest in opera. The third floor exhibits Mozart's childhood violin as well as portraits, documents, and early editions of his music, and the second floor is devoted to Mozart's interest in opera and includes the clavichord on which he composed The Magic Flute. The Schmittenhöhe is a mountain, 1,965 m high, on the eastern edge of the Kitzbühel Alps. It is the local mountain of the district capital of Zell am See, from where a cable car was built in 1927 by Adolf Bleichert & Co. that runs to the summit. The cable car system has been renovated several times since. From the summit of the Schmittenhöhe there is a good view of over 30 three-thousanders as well as the lake of Zeller See, the river basin and the whole Saalach valley. The Schmittenhöhe has pistes for winter sports. From the Schmittenhöhe numerous long-distance flights may be made by paraglider into the Pinzgau region whose straight, east-west orientation enables long flights to be made.

Lake Zell is a small freshwater lake in the Austrian Alps. It takes its name from the city of Zell am See, which is located on a small delta protruding into the lake. The lake is 4 kilometres long and 1.5 kilometres wide. It is up to 73 metres deep and at an elevation of 750 metres above sea level. The lake is fed by numerous small mountain streams in summer, but only one stream flows out of it into the Salzach. In winter the lake completely freezes and is used for winter sports. In summer the lake is used for pleasure boating . The water is very clear and suitable for swimming or diving, but can be chilly. The southern end of the lake, near Schüttdorf, is shallower and mostly filled with water weed, making it unsuitable for boating or swimming.

An amazing trip to Salzburg region of Austria. This four days trip started by landing to the beautiful Salzburg Airport. The Airport location is breathtaking. We took a shuttle bus from the Airport to Salzburg central railway station and changed the bus to get to our Hotel. After keeping our luggage in the Hotel we headed to the St. Wolfgang Lake by catching a bus from the central station. Enjoyed the awesome views of St. Wolfgang Lake, eat fish for lunch and took a Ferry to many small villages around the St. Wolfgang Lake. This area is called as the Salzkammergut.

The next 2 days we went on a city tour in the Salzburg city. You need at least two days to see and enjoy the complete city. Don't miss the two Mozart Houses.

The fourth day we went to the picture perfect town of Hallstatt by train. A small but very beautiful town near Salzburg. If you go to Salzburg, you must visit Hallstatt.

Salzburg, Austria Lakes and Mountains tour, Salzkammergut

We drive through the Salzkammergut, a beautiful landscape of lakes and mountains just outside Salzburg, Austria. After a one-hour drive through splendid scenery we arrive at the little village of St. Gilgen on the shores of Lake Wolfgang, a very pretty place, famous as the home of Mozart’s mother and sister. The journey continues with a half-hour boat ride across Lake Wolfgang, a very pleasant excursion that passes some small village clusters along the way and wonderful mountain scenery in the distance. You can ride outdoors on the upper deck or down below in the bar and restaurant lounge. This pleasure ship has busy waiters who will keep you from getting thirsty or hungry.
The boat soon arrives at the quaint little village of St Wolfgang where you have nearly one or two hours free to browse around, have snacks at a terrace café overlooking the water, and visit the Gothic church to see an important wooden altar carved by Michael Pacher, a leading woodcarver from the Tyrol working in the early Renaissance. People have been flocking here ever since the 12th century when it was a pilgrimage town dedicated to St. Wolfgang.
