Pythagoreio - Samos Island, Greece

Pythagoreio (Greek: Πυθαγόρειο) is a small town on the island of Samos, North Aegean, Greece.
The seat of the municipality was the town of Pythagoreio, formerly known as Tigani. The town was renamed in 1955 to honour the locally born mathematician and philosopher Pythagoras. The port of the town is considered to be the oldest man-made port of the Mediterranean Sea.
The archaeological remains in the town, known collectively as Pythagoreion, has designated a joint UNESCO World Heritage Site with nearby Heraion.

Travel to Samos, visiting Pythagorio

Before visiting the port of Pythagorio, go to the archaeological museum, SEE the tunnel of Eupalinos, the Monastery of the Blessed Virgin in a cave, but also see the remains of the ancient Samos that can be found in the castro and the remains of enclosures around.
Whoever has the courage to go to the end of the path that leads to the Eupalinos Tunnel will discover Chora and its cultures that have nourished Samos since antiquity.
