Schuyler is a census-designated place in Nelson County, Virginia, United States, close to Scottsville. The population as of the 2010 Census was 298.In 1882, the community—originally Walker's Mill—was named for Schuyler George Walker, local mill operator, and the area's first postmaster. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the community became a small industrial center with the establishment of a stone cutting plant for the area quarries of the Alberene Stone Company, which took the native and acid-resistant soap stone and milled the rock into flat table tops for labs and hospitals. Earl Henry Hamner Jr. was an American television writer and producer , best known for his work in the 1970s and 1980s on the long-running series The Waltons and Falcon Crest. As a novelist, he was best known for Spencer's Mountain, inspired by his own childhood and formed the basis for both the film of the same name and the television series The Waltons, for which he provided voice-over narration.

My Walton Mountain Museum Trip

This is a trip we took to Schuyler, Virginia April, 2009 to see the Waltons Mountain Museum. If you are a Walton fan, you will like it. The museum is inside a old schoolhouse. You can buy things at the General Store inside there. I know I didnt look happy at the post office window but its that I dont like being in pictures is all. LOL! I have never heard the whole entire theme song before. Its by The Daniel Caine Orchestra playing. You can find out more about the museum at this link.
