Seney is an unincorporated community in Schoolcraft County in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, United States. The historic community began as a railroad stop in 1881. Soon after, logging companies moved into the area to lumber the white pine forests in the surrounding region. Seney soon grew to over 3,000 people. During this time, the town gained a reputation for being rowdy and dangerous due its boom economy and numerous saloons. By the end of the nineteenth century, the forests of pine in the surrounding region were depleted and the lumber companies left, shrinking the town considerably. The Seney National Wildlife Refuge is a managed wetland in Schoolcraft County in the U.S. state of Michigan. It has an area of 95,212 acres . It is bordered by M-28 and M-77. The nearest town of any size is Seney, Michigan. The refuge contains the Seney Wilderness Area and the Strangmoor Bog National Natural Landmark within its boundaries.

Ep. 8: Exploring Michigan's Wild Upper Peninsula

We drive Grace, our 2004 Peterbilt 387 semi, across the Mighty Mackinaw Bridge into Michigan's Upper Peninsula (the UP). We visit Tahquamenon Falls and take in the beauty of her copper-colored waters, then continue on north to the town of Munising on the shores of Lake Huron. There, we find a place to camp for the night at Otter Lake, then meet friends in Munising and rent a pontoon boat for the afternoon. We cruise out onto the waters of Lake Huron and take in the beauty of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

We want to thank our friends Chris and Barb, who have the YouTube channel Midlife Journey, for organizing this trip and lining up the boat.

Upper Peninsula M-28 Seney Stretch in 1 minute

M28 in the Upper Peninsula is a 25 mile long laser straight section of highway called the Seney Stretch that cuts through a marshland. I guess I can't stop recording this stretch of 25 mile long road. This time we do it 1 minute flat.
