Shanagarry is a village in east County Cork in Ireland. The village is located on Ireland's south coast, approximately 35 kilometres east of Cork, and is known for the Ballymaloe Cookery School, in the home and gardens of celebrity chef Darina Allen. Also resident here is Darina's daughter-in-law Rachel Allen, another well known chef. Shanagarry Castle passed to the family of William Penn in the 1660s; it was his occasional residence before he left for Pennsylvania and started his Holy Experiment. Ballycotton Cliff Walk April 2016

As part of the Seafood & Shanty Ballycotton 2016 events, local history enthusiast Derry Keogh (one of our Ballycotton Island Lighthouse Tour guides) invited some culturally curious visitors on a tour of our famous Ballycotton Cliff Walk.

Derry (and guests) struck it lucky and enjoyed one of the very rare sunny days in April 2016 - Sat 9th!

Russborough Walk Through

Russborough was built between 1741-1750 and is regarded as one of Ireland’s most beautiful houses. It has magnificent views of the Blessington Lakes and Wicklow Mountains .

In 1978 Sir Alfred Beit opened the house for guided tours and there have been over 1 million visitors since. The house which is beautifully maintained and lavishly furnished contains fine furniture, tapestries, carpets, porcelain, silver and much of the Beit collection of paintings. It also has beautiful ceilings, plaster work and a fine mahogany staircase.
