Shanxi is a province of the People's Republic of China, located in the North China region. Its one-character abbreviation is 晋 , after the state of Jin that existed here during the Spring and Autumn period. The name Shanxi means West of the Mountains, a reference to the province's location west of the Taihang Mountains. Shanxi borders Hebei to the east, Henan to the south, Shaanxi to the west, and Inner Mongolia to the north and is made up mainly of a plateau bounded partly by mountain ranges. The capital of the province is Taiyuan.

Tayuan Temple is located in the central area of Taihuai town in Mount Wutai, Shanxi Province, China. Tayuan Temple was originally a stupa of Xiantong Temple. The stupa, named the Great White Pagoda, was constructed in the 6th year of DaDe reign of the Yuan dynasty . In the 5th year of Yongle reign of the Ming Dynasty , it was expanded to a temple and got its name as Tayuan Temple. It is listed in the Major Historical and Cultural Sites Protected in Shanxi Province, China.

Ying County or Yingxian is a county in the north of Shanxi province, China. It is the easternmost county-level division of the prefecture-level city of Shuozhou. Ying County is best known for the Pagoda of Fogong Temple, which is built in 1056 and was the tallest timber building in the world built before the rise of modern timber skyscrapers in the 2010s.

5. Wutai Shan (Five Terrace Mountain) Wutai County
Mount Wutai, also known by its Chinese name Wutaishan and as Mount Qingliang, is a sacred Buddhist site at the headwaters of the Qingshui in Shanxi Province, China. Its central area is surrounded by a cluster of flat-topped peaks roughly corresponding to the cardinal directions. The north peak is the highest and is also the highest point in northern China. As host to over 53 sacred monasteries, Mount Wutai is home to many of China's most important monasteries and temples. It was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009 and named a AAAAA tourist attraction by China's National Tourism Administration in 2007.

Guan Yu , courtesy name Yunchang, was a general serving under the warlord Liu Bei during the late Eastern Han dynasty of China. Along with Zhang Fei, he shared a brotherly relationship with Liu Bei and accompanied him on most of his early exploits. Guan Yu played a significant role in the events leading up to the end of the dynasty and the establishment Liu Bei's state of Shu Han during the Three Kingdoms period. While he is remembered for his loyalty towards Liu Bei, he is also known for repaying Cao Cao's kindness by slaying Yan Liang, a general under Cao Cao's rival Yuan Shao, at the Battle of Boma. It is an artistic complex of ancient Chinese architecture, sculpture, fresco and inscription, as well as a cultural synthesis of religion and politics.

Ancient City of Pingyao, Shanxi, China in 4K (Ultra HD)

The Ancient City of Pingyao is UNESCO World Heritage site for being an exceptionally well-preserved example of a traditional Han Chinese city, founded in the 14th century. Its urban fabric shows the evolution of architectural styles and town planning in Imperial China over five centuries.

The impressive city walls (total length 6 km/3.7 mi) were constructed in 14th century. Most buildings in the Old city are from the Ming and Qing dynasties. During the late Qing Dynasty, Pingyao was the financial center of China.
