Skaneateles is a town in Onondaga County, New York, United States. The population was 7,209 at the 2010 census. The name is from the Iroquois term for the adjacent Skaneateles Lake, which means long lake. The town is on the western border of the county and includes a village, also named Skaneateles. Skaneateles Lake is one of the Finger Lakes in central New York in the United States. The name Skaneateles means long lake in one of the local Iroquoian languages. The lake is sometimes referred to as The Roof Garden of the Lakes because its altitude is higher than the other Finger Lakes.It is 16 mi long and on average 0.75 mi wide, with a surface area of 13.6 sq mi , and a maximum depth of 315 ft . No matter if you are in the air or on the ground. There's a fantastic view waiting for you. Visit the New York Wine and Culinary Center in Canandaigua, near the City Pier, or take a leisurely walk along Kershaw park. In Geneva, along Seneca Lake you can enjoy a delicious ice cream cone as you walk the Long pier, or enjoy a great meal at the Pier House Restaurant at the Ramada Geneva Lakefront. There are bike rentals too to ride along the lakefront at Seneca Lake Park...the views are incredible!

Finger Lakes Region

Carlos and I go out and adventure around Central New York. We visit the only national forest in New York (Finger Lakes National Forest) and we also kayak on Cayuta Lake. It was a really fun day to show Carlos around.
