Thanks to South Padre’s mild weather, calm seas, and an average of 300 days of sunshine, you can do just about anything you want, all year long, like kiteboarding, surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, snorkeling, scuba diving, parasailing, jet skiing and deep sea fishing. If your idea of fun is a little less adventurous, there are calmer activities you can enjoy, such as visiting the islands, nature centers, wildlife refuges, or walking on one of the many boardwalks. Welcome to the beautiful South Padre Island, TX beach resort, one of the two (the other is Panama City Beach, FL) spring break capitals of North America.
This is the only way you can get on the island, thru Port Isabel and then Queen Isabella Memorial Bridge.
At the end of the video, South Padre Island Visitor Center, free parking at the front and at the back, lots of free maps and brochures also somebody who will answer all your questions you might have.
You might get there by boat as well, but that's a different story for another day.
Couple of useful links for anybody who plans a beautiful vacation on the island:
Lots of gas stations on the island and in Port Isabel, for cheap gas I recommend Walmart's Murphy USA or HEB's own gas station.
