Southern Dobruja is an area of north-eastern Bulgaria comprising the administrative districts named for its two principal cities of Dobrich and Silistra. It has an area of 7,565 km² and a population of 358,000. When it was a part of Romania from 1913 to 1940 it was known in Romanian as Dobrogea de sud, the Cadrilater , or Dobrogea Nouă . At the beginning of the modern era, Southern Dobruja had a mixed population of Bulgarians and Turks with several smaller minorities, including Gagauz, Crimean Tatars and Romanians.     Lake Vidraru is an artificial lake in Romania. It was created in 1965 by the construction of the Vidraru Dam on the Argeș River. It lies in the shadow of the Făgăraș Mountains. A village lies submerged at the bottom of this lake. Vidraru Lake is a reservoir lake created in 1965 on the Arges River for Hydroelectricity. It has 465 million cubic metres of water, with a length of 10.3 km and a width of 2.2 km, thus accumulating a total area of 870 hectares and maximum depth of 155 metres. An underground power station is situated in a massive Cetatuia to a depth of 104 metres and can provide annual energy production of 400 GWh. The lake has a surface area of 132 ha , a water volume of 2,600,000 m3 , a length of 4 km and a width between 200 m and 800 m while the maximum depth reaches 3 m . The lake is situated in a depression having no links to the Ialomița River. Because of the lack of a year-round constant fresh water supply and because of the evaporation process triggered by the dry climate, the concentration of salts in the lake is quite high.     Comana is a commune in Giurgiu County, southern Romania. It is composed of five villages: Comana, Vlad Țepeș, Budeni, Falaștoaca and Grădiștea. The commune is approximately 32 kilometers south of Bucharest. Comana Monastery is located in the commune, as is Comana Nature Park, the largest protected area in southern Romania. On the night of 6 to 7 of May 1944 a British bomber crash-landed at Comana. The aircrew were killed.
