Tionesta is a borough in Forest County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 483 at the 2010 Census. It is the county seat of Forest County. The name is a Native American word meaning the home of the wolves.Tionesta lies at the heart of a forested region that is a popular destination for hunters and other outdoor lovers. While the general area has seen some growth as a result of this tourist activity, the borough proper has suffered several setbacks in recent years including the closure of an Evenflo plant that was a major employer and a 2002 fire that leveled an entire block of the borough's downtown area.

1. Holiday Valley Ellicottville
Holiday Valley is a family oriented vacation spot and ski resort in Ellicottville, New York. Established in 1957 by Nelson Pauly, John Fisher and Bill Northrup, the facility opened with four runs and one T-bar lift. Currently the resort contains 58 slopes and 13 lifts. Since its opening Holiday Valley has experienced steady growth and has become the main tourist attraction in Cattaraugus County. In 1995 the Inn at Holiday Valley opened, turning the slope into a self-contained ski resort.

Allegheny National Forest Twin Lakes Backpacking Trip

Hey everyone we are back from our Pennsylvania trip. We drove into Kane and parked one car at the Twin Lakes Recreation area, then we traveled west and started our trip on the Twin Lakes Trail from the Tionsetta Scenic area. Trip report is below.

Day 1- Arrived in Kane. Got lost trying to take a shortcut through the woods. Slept near the power-lines a few hundred feet from Twin Lakes Trail.

Day 2- Followed the power-lines till it met up with the Twin Lakes Trail. Fallowed Twin Lakes Trail and camped on top of the hillside. A large storm hit us that night.

Day 3- Hiked the rest of the Twin Lakes Trail, and proceeded to refresh ourselves at the Twin Lakes Recreation Area. We Then took our cars and parked on a random road to spend the night.

Day 4- Packed up camp and went our separate ways!

This wasnt a long trip, but it was full of Adventure! The Allegheny National Forest turned out to be very remote, and it made for a perfect place to backpack and camp. We find paradise at a US Army Corps of Engineer campground in Virginia. Countless, pristine beaches, a lake that sinks into the horizon, bald eagles with a fishing gift and blue herons skimming the surface of the water into the sunset. The remains of a giant catfish, Axel's epic tales since then. And, Emma sings a tune, or two - on twelve.
