Tofte is an unincorporated community in Tofte Township, Cook County, Minnesota, United States. The community is located on the North Shore of Lake Superior. Tofte is located 27 miles southwest of the city of Grand Marais; and 56 miles northeast of the city of Two Harbors. Minnesota Highway 61 and Cook County Road 2 are two of the main routes in the community. Tofte is located within the Superior National Forest. Temperance River State Park, the Gitchi-Gami State Trail, the Superior Hiking Trail, and the Carlton Peak Lookout are all nearby.     Sawbill Lake is a lake in Cook County, Minnesota. It is a popular entry point to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in the Superior National Forest. Sawbill is a nickname of the common merganser duck. There is a United States Forest Service cabin, a canoe outfitter, and a campground located at the southern end of the lake. During the Great Depression there was a Civilian Conservation Corps camp six miles south of the lake. Sawbill has portages connecting it to Smoke Lake, Kelso Lake, Ada Creek and Alton Lake.
