Unadilla Drive-In

Unadilla is a town in Otsego County, New York, United States. As of the 2010 census, the town had a population of 4,392. The name is derived from an Iroquois word for meeting place. Unadilla is located in the southwest corner of the county, southwest of Oneonta. The Village of Unadilla is located in the southern part of the town. The mayor of Unadilla is Jim LaBella, as of June 6, 2018.

1. Andersonville National Historic Site and National Prisoner of War Museum Andersonville
The Andersonville National Historic Site, located near Andersonville, Georgia, preserves the former Camp Sumter , a Confederate prisoner-of-war camp during the final twelve months of the American Civil War. Most of the site lies in southwestern Macon County, adjacent to the east side of the town of Andersonville. As well as the former prison, the site contains the Andersonville National Cemetery and the National Prisoner of War Museum. The prison was made in February 1864 and served to April 1865. The site was commanded by Captain Henry Wirz, who was tried and executed after the war for war crimes. It was overcrowded to four times its capacity, with an inadequate water supply, inadequate food rations, and unsanitary conditions. Of the approximately 45,000 Union prisoners held at Camp Sumte...

Have you ever wondered how Michigan was named Michigan? Before colonization, the now Great Lakes State was home to at least eight Native American tribes throughout the land, one of which being the Ojibwe Indians. The Ojibwe were the first people to openly interact with the French in Michigan, trading furs and knowledge of the area for guns and goods. Through translation, the state of Michigan was named after the Ojibwe Indian word “Michigama,” which means “great lake” or “land surrounded by water.”

On this day, as in previous videos, we head into southeast Nebraska, U.S.A., along Nebraska Highway 2. This highway is a major link between Interstate 80 to the west of Lincoln and the I-29/Kansas City Metro Area. We don't go all the way into Iowa (to I-29) on this trip - we stop just short of the Iowa/Nebraska state line... that leg onto the Missouri River floodplain may something shot in the future...

Ten to 15-or-so years ago, Highway 2 used to be a dangerous, two-lane roadway between Lincoln and Nebraska City/I-29. With all the truck traffic on that narrow roadway back then, there were many accidents. Since then however, Hwy. 2 has been upgraded to Expressway standards and has helped a great deal with the flow of traffic. Here and there, if you look at the right time, you can still see remnant-segments of the old highway that the new Expressway's right-of-way didn't follow.

At the at-grade intersection (signal-controlled) of NE 2, U.S. Hwy. 75 South and Business 75 (south-side of Nebraska City), this intersection is currently in the beginning stages of being upgraded to an urban interchange. This is really evident when we turn onto 75 South and see a two-lane highway leading up to the intersection, just to turn into another Expressway. You can see the state's intention of an interchange here because for as long time of this... it's just been many years in the making.
