Ureki is a town and a seaside climatic resort on the Black Sea coast of Georgia. Located within Ozurgeti District in the region of Guria, Ureki is 60 kilometers north of Batumi and approximately 300 km west of the nation’s capital Tbilisi. It is located 4 meters above the sea level and has a population of 1,422 . It received a status of a town in 1953. Unlike many areas on the Black Sea, in Ureki beaches are sandy, rather than covered in pebbles. 1. Mtirala National Park Kobuleti
Mtirala National Park is a protected area in Adjara region, Georgia. Covering approximately 15,698 hectares in Municipalities of Kobuleti, Khelvachauri and Keda in the western Lesser Caucasus, it is situated between the Black Sea and the Adjara Mountains. It also adjoins Kintrishi Protected Areas. Mtirala National Park Colchic broad-leaved and mixed forests include sweet chestnut and Oriental beech woods with pontic rhododendron, cherry laurel and Colcic box understories and a variety of lianas. Fauna recorded are Brown bear, Roe deer, and Wild boar, while avifauna includes Booted eagle, Eagle owl and Golden oriole. Amphibians inhabiting the park include Caucasian salamander, Caucasian toad, Eurasian mash frog and Caucasian viper. Mount Mtirala is one of the most humid areas in the country...

The second part of the trip to Georgia. Here are the cuts from Mestia - one of the most beautiful places in Georgia where in all its beauty you can see the mountains, feel their air and get into the completely different atmosphere of several thousands kilometers above the sea. Next destination is Ureki-the magnetic sand beach that welcomed us with the burning sun. And as following we arrived to Borjomi to enjoy its botanic park of approximately 7 km long. 그 중 눈에 띄는 것이 있다. 조지아 북쪽, 코카서스 산맥에 있는 고대 유적지 샤틸리 성채다. 샤틸리는 조지아 사람들도 좀처럼 가기 힘든 곳이라고 한다. 이곳을 꼭 한 번 보고 싶었던 나는 직접 가보기로 했다. 샤틸리에 가기 위해서는 험준한 코카서스 산맥을 넘어야 한다. 산 정상 가까이에 오니 군데군데 약수터가 보인다. 그런데 세상을 떠난 사람들의 초상화를 돌에 새겨 걸어놓았다. 저승에서도, 힘든 나그네에게 물 한 모금 주고 싶어 하는 코카서스 사람들의 순박한 마음이 느껴지는 것 같다. 조금 더 가 드디어 산 정상에 도착했다. 샤틸리로 가기 위해 반드시 넘어야 하는 이곳은 코카서스 산맥의 중심부로, 백두산과 비슷한 해발 2,700미터다. 발아래 내려다보이는 협곡이 아찔하기만 하다. 직접 눈으로 본 코카서스의 풍경은 말로 표현할 수 없을 정도로 장엄하다. 그런데 샤틸리로 가는 길은 이제부터 시작이다. 산허리를 깎아 만든 좁디좁은 비포장도로를 내려가야 한다. 바로 옆은 천 길 낭떠러지! 차창 밖을 내다보는데 다리가 후들거릴 정도다. 산을 내려오면 조지아와 러시아 체첸의 국경이 나온다. 이곳에 샤틸리 성채가 있다. 2천 년 전부터 이곳에 사람들이 살았고, 10세기경 사람들이 성채를 쌓기 시작했다. 산 너머 이민족으로부터의 침공을 막기 위한 것이었다. 절벽에 세워진 성채는 천혜의 요새다. 멀리서 보면 하나의 성 같지만, 실제로는 60여개의 건물들로 이뤄져 있다. ”타마르 여왕 시대 조지아는 흑해에서 카스피해까지 거대한 영토를 소유했습니다. 그 때 이곳이 많이 알려지게 됐습니다. 체첸, 다게스탄과 산맥 너머 여러 민족들이 조지아와 전쟁을 자주 했기 때문이죠.” 성채 안쪽으로 들어가 봤다. 건물의 입구는 한 사람이 겨우 들어갈 수 있을 만큼 좁다. 1층에서는 가축을 키우고, 위에는 사람이 살았다고 한다. 전망대에서는 강을 따라 침입해 오는 적군을 쉽게 알아볼 수 있다. 총이 발명된 뒤에는 돌벽 군데군데에 총을 쏠 수 있는 작은 구멍을 뚫어놓았다. 전투가 벌어지면 건물 사이로 신속하게 이동하기 위해 구름다리로 연결해 놓았다. 성채 제일 위쪽으로 올라갔는데, 사람들을 만났다. 천 년이나 된 고성에 사람이 살고 있다니 뜻밖이다. 사촌들끼리 휴가를 보내기 위해 이곳에 왔다고 한다. “안녕! 이름이 뭐예요?” “니노예요” “어디서 살아요?” “트빌리시요” “학생이에요?” “네” 무려 천 년이나 된 집이지만 생활하는 데는 전혀 문제가 없어 보인다. 이들은 어렸을 때 이곳에서 살다 트빌리시로 떠났다. 지금은 여름에만 별장으로 사용하고, 평소에는 마을의 정교 신부가 산다고 한다. ”오래된 집이라 불편하지 않으세요?” ”아니요. 공기와 주변 환경이 아주 좋아서 전혀 불편하지 않아요.”
