É uma povoação de origem medieval, possuindo um vasto e riquíssimo património arquitectónico; Igreja Matriz, Capelas –Nossa Senhora doa remédios sécXVII São Sebastião séc XVII e do Nosso Senhor da Boa morte,a capela de São Paulo,o fresco dos Santos nas arribas do Douro, vários cruzeiros, fontes e outros achados arqueológicos.
Elevada a vila em 1989, é parte integrante da área em que se fala o mirandês, na sua variedade sendinês.
Entre meados do séc. XX e inicio doséc. XXI houve em Sendim uma evolução paradoxal ; o decréscimo de população e o aumento de fogos.
São características de Sendim o seu dialecto, Sendinês, que de certa forma é uma variação do Mirandês; hoje considerada a segunda língua de Portugal. Sendim pertence ao planalto Mirandês em Trás-os-Montes e como tal bem no interior do Portugal.
A freguesia de Sendim está inserida na zona do Parque Natural do Douro Internacional, uma zona rica em fauna e flora. É uma vila situada a poucos quilómetros do rio Douro e que como tal se identifica com as arribas, sendo mesmo denominada a Capital das Arribas. As rochas que constituem as margens do Rio, proporcionam vistas magníficas.

A 28-hour on-the-road trip to reach Sabrosa, Portugal hometown of Ferdinand Magellan, starting from Paris, France to Spain, then Portugal. My wife and I stayed there May 5 to 8, 2011. It's a lovely, laid-back town that is superhumanly clean and supremely historic.
