Florence: when it comes to Renaissance art, there’s probably no better city in the world to soak it all in!
Our time here was spent viewing works by Italian masters both in museums and public spaces, marvelling at the architecture - in particular Florence Cathedral and its massive dome, going in search of the best lookout points, and eating plenty of pizza & gelato sharing the best things to do in Florence on your visit.
We paid 15 Euros for a ticket that gave us access to 5 attractions associated with Florence Cathedral. Giotto’s Campanile, the bell tower stands 84.7 metres with 414 steps.
We made our way over to our next attraction: the Baptistry. Known as both the Florence Baptistry and the Baptistry of Saint John.
We continued to Museo dell’Opera del Duomo, which is a museum dedicated to conserving artworks relating to Florence Cathedral.
It was time to climb the dome of Florence Cathedral. We ate our gelato at Grom and it was delicious.
The Uffizi Gallery is considered one of the best museums in the world focusing on the Italian Renaissance. Most of the art collection you see today was gifted to the city of Florence by Anna Maria Luisa, the last Medici heiress.
From Uffizi Gallery you get some pretty cool views of Ponte Vecchio and the Arno River from a higher vantage point.
We visited in Florence was Piazza della Signoria, an L-shaped square right in the heart of the city. A landmark in this square is Palazzo Vecchio or the Town Hall. And to the right of this building, you have the Loggia dei Lanzi.
Speaking of David, we did find him, over at Galleria dell’Accademia. Michelangelo’s David depicts the Biblical David carved out of a single block of marble.
Ponte Vecchia during the 16th century that one of the Medici ordered for the butcher shops to be replaced with jewellers.
When it comes to sunset in Florence, there are no better views than from Piazzale Michelangelo overlooking the historic center on the other side of the Arno River.
This indoor market is foodie central with the second floor of the market is filled with eateries. Central Market is a great place to pick up ingredients to bring back to your kitchen.
We hope you enjoyed this Florence travel guide and that it gave you ideas of things to do.

On Day 27 in Lisbon, Portugal, I made up my mind to eat as much Portuguese food and at some of the best local restaurants in Lisbon. It turned out to be a fantastic day in Lisbon with some seriously good Portuguese food!
00:36 Cafe Martinho Da Arcada at Praça do Comércio - The first place we stopped in the morning is a legendary cafe in Lisbon that is the oldest cafe in Lisbon called Cafe Martinho Da Arcada. The main reason I wanted to go there was to try their pastéis de bacalhau, classic Portuguese food codfish fritters. The coffee and ambience and of the cafe was also nice. Total price - 9.30 EUR
Restaurante Zé da Mouraria (I think it was closed for holidays) - I really wanted to eat at this restaurant during my visit to Lisbon, but unfortunately they were closed for holidays, so if you go to Lisbon and are looking for local Portuguese food, check this place out.
5:32 Restaurante Cantinho do Aziz - For our next meal, although not Portuguese food, but more Mozambican food, we headed over to Restaurante Cantinho do Aziz. The food was remarkable, one of the best meals I had in Lisbon. I first began with some beef samosas which were insanely good, and then had spicy bakra piri piri, spicy lamb ribs. Total price - 35.00 EUR
11:14 Restaurante A Merendinha do Arco - Finally, to try some authentic Portuguese food in Lisbon, we headed over to a restaurant called Restaurante A Merendinha do Arco. This small family run restaurant serves delicious Portuguese food and many of the classics. I ordered bacalhau com grão, codfish with garbanzo beans and carne de porco à alentejana, pork with clams. Along with the delicious local food, what I loved was the ambiance and feel of the restaurant. Total price - 20.15 EUR
22:10 Oceanário de Lisboa (Entrance price - 17 EUR per person) - By this point on this Portuguese food tour of Lisbon, I was feeling pretty full, so we headed over to Oceanário de Lisboa and walked around one of Europe’s biggest aquariums.
24:22 Cafe on Avenida da Liberdade (Coffee - 1.40 EUR) - One of the things I love about Lisbon is the social cafe culture and atmosphere. In the afternoon I was starting to feel pretty sleepy, so before dinner, I had a cup of coffee at an outdoor cafe along Avenida.
25:12 Solar dos Presuntos - For the last Portuguese meal in on this food tour of restaurants in Lisbon, I decided to eat at a restaurants called Solar dos Presuntos. I didn’t know it was going to be such a fancy high end restaurant, but it was our last night in Lisbon, so we decided to go for it. I started with the pata negra, a plate of incredibly good ham. Then I ordered the polvo à lagareiro, some of the most tender octopus I’ve ever had in my life. Finally we also ordered dourada grelhada - gilt-head sea bream fish. The food was expensive, but delicious. Total price - 60.85 EUR.
This was a fantastic day of Portuguese food in Lisbon, and many of the places we ate today were the best restaurants I tried in Lisbon.

The Most Beautiful Country in the World
OK, I'll admit it, Norway is the most beautiful country in the world. At least of the 100 I've seen.
My trip with TopDeck Travel continued north up through Norway today. And, again, I still don't have audio due to my vlogging fail the other day. But, luckily, when you're in a country as beautiful as Norway you can almost don't need sound. You can just sit and enjoy the beauty.
By basically day 2 of this trip through Norway I thought it might be the most beautiful country in the world, or at least the most beautiful I've been to. However, I wanted to reserve judgement until I saw more of it. Now, having seen it from top to bottom, I can be sure it's the most beautiful country in the world. And, while I've only seen 100 countries, it would be really hard to beat the sheer beauty of this country. In fact, there are still so many incredible places in Norway that I haven't seen that seem like they'll be absolutely incredible, maybe even more impressive than any of the other places I've been here.
So, on this vlog, we continued soaking in that amazing beauty of this country. We started by visiting a place called Svartisen Glacier which is a boat ride and a hike away. The trip is incredibly beautiful and there were loads of photos to be had along the way.
After our excursion to Svartisen, we made our way even farther norther here in Norway. In fact, we crossed the arctic circle today. So, now I've been across both the arctic and antarctic circles which is pretty cool.
Then, in the evening we got to our campsite, and my audio finally came back. So, to celebrate, we had a few drinks and enjoyed a bit of the midnight sun.
Tomorrow, there will be another vlog from here in the most beautiful country in the world as we again push farther north here in Norway.
