Volga Federal District is one of the eight federal districts of Russia. It forms the southeastern part of European Russia. Its population was 29,899,699 according to the 2010 Census, living on an area of 1,038,000 square kilometers . Igor Komarov was appointed the federal district's Presidential Envoy on September 18, 2018. The historical center of the district is known as the Idel-Ural region.

  • 2. Kazan Hippodrome Kazan
    Kazan-2 was a regional airport in Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia, in service from 1979 until the late 1980s. Passenger service was provided by Antonov An-2s and Let L-410 small aircraft and a few helicopters. An old airfield for Kazan's major airport was likely built during the World War II era. The airport was located 8 km northeast of the city centre, and has since been replaced by civilian construction, such as the residential development 'Kazan - 21st Century', Azure Skies and the largest international hippodrome in Russia. Although the airport is gone, the surrounding neighborhood still carries the name 'Old Airport' .

    The Palace of Water Sports is an indoor aquatics centre in Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia which was built for the 2013 Summer Universiade. Located on the banks of the Kazanka River, the competitions in synchronized swimming, diving, swimming and water polo took place here. It later hosted the diving events for the 2015 World Aquatics Championships. The temporary open arena for water polo with 3,500 was built nearby, using its service and support systems.
