Wakulla Springs Florida
We visit beautiful Wakulla Springs Florida, located just south of the Florida State capital Tallahassee.
The water here is often times crystal clear but with all of the rain we had during the summer it was a bit murkey, but still clear enough to see down quite a ways. Lot's of really cool wildlife here and great place to photographers.
This place is great for weekend swimming in the summer time!
Wakulla Springs State Park, FL - Part 2
Wakulla Springs State Park is a must see park if you're anywhere near Crawfordville just south of Tallahassee. The springs were made famous back in the 1950s when Hollywood discovered it for B-Movies like The Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Creature Walks Amongst Us and several early Tarzan movies. Although there are no campgrounds in this state park, there is a beautifully restored lodge built in 1937 which includes a beautiful dining room and a period soda fountain. Be sure to try a Ginger Yip when you visit. There are beautiful hiking and biking trails but the highlight of the visit is the 45 minute to 1 hour boat tour up and back thru the spring. Today we saw turtles, alligators, anhinghas, cormorants, ibis, great blue heron, black vultures, many species of ducks and best of all, the elusive manatees. We had such a great time that we returned with friends Chuck & Sharen, only this time we also included the bike trail.

Crystal River Preserve State Park is 27,000 acres of hardwood forests, lush mangroves and salt marshes that form a rare coastal estuary fed by two, spring-fed rivers.
