I, Sabina, am at the beginning of a five month journey around Africa. I'll be travelling to Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Madagascar. Cameroon has an extremely diverse range of religions amongst its population. Two-thirds of its people are Christian, with one-fifth Muslim and many other religions represented. The West of the country is largely Protestant; the east and south are predominantly Catholic; but there remain southern groups who follow African animist practices, believing in witchcraft, which is outlawed by the government.

Cameroon gained its independence from France on 1st January 1960, 2:30am. After 1919, the country had been split into French Cameroun and British Cameroons. This governance was highly controversial, with political resistance put down by French forces. Following independence, on 1st October 1961 British Cameroons was reunited with French Cameroun to create the Federal Republic of Cameroon. Today, the country is governed by a President, who has very wide-ranging powers to form policy, govern agences, issue orders to the army, and arrange treaties. He is elected every seven years by popular vote.

Cameroon is home to the world's most endangered language. It became the object of considerable international attention through the efforts of language preservation websites. Busuu, a Southern Bantoid language, has just eight speakers left in the world, and efforts are now being taken to preserve the language for future speakers in the region, as linguists study its structure and grammar. Many more languages in the region are also in danger of disappearing, as the population becomes increasingly colonised by more widely-spoken languages.

Cameroon is one of the most geographically various countries in the world. It is larger than the state of California, stretching nearly 500,000 sq km, making it the 53rd largest country in the world. However, unlike other countries of a similar size, it has an extremely diverse geography: coastal, mountainous, rainforest, savanna and grasslands. It exhibits every major climate type, often in extremes.

I signed up to go on a tour with Azizi Life, and I did the home food tour. It turned out to be even better than I was expecting, and truly a glimpse into rural life and a community in Rwanda. The food, the culture, and the dancing after lunch was one of the highlights of the day!
Muhanga Town - In the morning we first drove from Kigali to Muhanga Town, about an hour outside of Kigali. The green mountain roads were spectacular. Rwanda is known as the land of 1000 hills, and I think that might be an underestimation as there are never ending hills in this part of Central Africa.
After being warmly greeted and welcomed by the community of ladies, we first went to go fetch water. This is something many of us, myself for sure, take for granted. But in the rural countryside of Africa, even in cities, there are many people who have no running water, and when they need water for anything, they must walk to the well or source of freshwater, and carry all the water they need. It’s something to always remember.
Next we got started cooking all the food. Most of the ingredients for the Rwandan feast they cooked were from right there, on the hillside, from the small family farms. We had dozens of different vegetables, and of course - beans which were one of the most important foods of this regions of Africa. It wouldn’t be Rwandan food without beans as I’ve heard! Final dish was akabenz, a famous Rwandan pork dish.
You could taste the freshness of all the ingredients. The food was honestly a little plain for my usual taste buds, but I fully appreciated the natural ingredients, the simplicity of the dishes, and the love poured into each dish.
After eating a giant Rwandan feast, all of a sudden they started breaking out into dance. It was one of the highlights of this entire experience.

Village Food in West Africa - BEST FUFU and EXTREME Hospitality in Rural Ghana!

It was about a three hour drive from Accra to get to the village. The village was somewhere in the central Cape Coast region of Ghana (however no near to the coast, but much inland). The people from the village were so incredibly friendly, and it was one of the most genuinely hospitable and friendly villages I’ve ever visited. It was an honor and privilege to spend time at the village.
As we arrived, they had already started cooking some Ghanaian food specialties. One the menu, we had banku with okra soup, fufu (a staple of West African food) with palm nut soup, and finally fried plantains with beans. All the food was incredibly good, and it was one of the best bowls of fufu I ate during my entire time in Ghana.

Though it remains far less well known or understood by foreigners than some other European countries, since reunification Germany has gained a higher profile as a travel destination. The tourist attractions in Germany are by no means limited to the cities and many other great attractions can be found in every part of the country.

5. Cologne Cathedral: Easily the greatest Gothic cathedral in Germany, Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom) has been Cologne’s most famous landmark for centuries. Construction of the Cologne Cathedral began in 1248 and took, with interruptions, more than 600 years to complete. It is dedicated to the saints Peter and Mary and is the seat of the Catholic Archbishop of Cologne.
4. Holstentor in Lübeck: The Holstentor is one of the two remaining city gates of the city of Lübeck. Built in 1464, the gate now serves as a museum. Because of its two captivating round towers and arched entrance it is regarded as a symbol of Lübeck. Together with the old city center (Altstadt) of Lübeck it is one of the top tourist attractions in Germany.
3. Heidelberg Old City: Located in the Neckar river valley, Heidelberg is one Germany’s most popular tourist destinations. During WWII, the city was almost completely spared by allied bombings which destroyed most of Germany’s larger inner cities. As a result, Heidelberg has retained its baroque charm of narrow streets, picturesque houses and the famous Heidelberg Castle.
2. Brandenburg Gate in Berlin: The Brandenburg Gate is the only surviving city gate of Berlin and symbolizes the reunification of East and West Berlin. Built in the 18th century, the Brandenburg Gate is the entry to Unter den Linden, the prominent boulevard of linden trees which once led directly to the palace of the Prussian monarchs. It is regarded as one of the most famous landmarks in Europe.
#Neuschwanstein: The ultimate fairytale castle, Neuschwanstein is situated on a rugged hill near Füssen in southwest Bavaria. It was the inspiration for the Sleeping Beauty castles in the Disneyland parks. The castle was commissioned by King Ludwig II of Bavaria who was declared insane when the castle was almost completed in 1886 and found dead a few days later.

#Old Town Hall in Bamberg: Bamberg is a historic city in Bavaria, and it is home to a number of fascinating architectural landmarks. None is so interesting or important as the Old Town Hall, or the Altes Rathaus.
#Harz Mountains: One of the highest mountain ranges in Germany is the Harz Range, a region populated by picturesque, traditional homes, snow-covered peaks and peaceful rivers. The Grimm Brothers, who famously wrote many of the world’s most popular fairy tales, based some of their stories in the Harz Mountains.
#Aachen Cathedral: Located near the border with Belgium and the Netherlands, the Aachen Cathedral is the oldest cathedral in northern Europe. Construction on the cathedral began in the eighth century, and the design is a combination of Carolingian and Gothic styles.
#Sylt: Off the northernmost coast of Germany are the North Frisian Islands. Sylt is one of the most popular islands, although its northern location means it is not as accessible for travelers as other German tourist attractions.

Equatorial Guinea
Equatorial Guinea is officially referred to as the Republic of Equatorial Guinea. This country is located in Middle Africa and comprises of two parts, the continental region otherwise known as Rio Muni and the insular region. The Rio Muni consists of offshore islands like Corisco, Elobey Choci and Elobey Grande while the other region has Annobon Island and Bioko Island. The capital is known as Malabo and it's located in Bioko Island.

The population of Equatorial Guinea is about 668,225 according to a July 2011 census. The annual population growth rate is 2,641%. There are several ethnic groups but the majority is the Fang group. This group dominates the business and political life success in the country. Other enthnic groups are Bubi with 50,000 people; Annobonese 3000, Ndowe and Kombe are about 300 each and Bujebas 2000.

The GDP of Equatorial Guinea was estimated to be $24,66 billion with the growth rate estimated at 0,9% in 2010. The inflation rate was estimated at about 8,2% in 2010. The country has several resources which are petroleum, natural gas, gold deposits that are unexploited, uranium, manganese and timber as well. Agriculture forms a strong part of the economy as well with coffee, rice, bananas among others.

The Republic of Guinea is located particularly in west central Africa. The island of Bioko is 25 miles from Cameroon, Annobon Island 370 miles from southwest Bioko Island. The larger continental region of Rio Minu covers 26,003 square kilometers. The other region continental Island of Annobon was discovered on the new year's day of 1472. It measures only 18 square kilometers.

The first people who are believed to be inhabitants of the now Republic of Equatorial Guinea are the Pygmies. The island of Bioko was discovered by a Portuguese explorer named Fernando Po in 1471. He initially names it Formosa which means pretty flower. The Portuguese remained in control until 1778 but by 1827 the British had established a base on the island.

The government has significantly reduced its role in the economy and started promoting the development of the private sector. The US is that largest foreign investor at over $12 billion.
