America is a vast, incredibly diverse country. There are so many amazing US cities, that it's impossible to fit them in just one list but these should get you started and just might inspire your next great American adventure.
1 SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO
Santa Fe has something unique and almost magical about it. The adobe houses are expertly hidden by natural terrain, the Sangre de Cristo Mountains are a great ski locale. Santa Fe is rich with Spanish and Native American culture. You may do a tour of the Loretto Chapel and round out your trip with some authentic Mexican cuisine and some wine from the many local wineries.
2 SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA
The Bay Area is an ideal location for travelers seeking a temperate climate, incredible food and attractions, and diverse culture. A unique activity to do when in San Francisco is to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge, the view of the city and the bay is spectacular.
Other sights that can’t be missed are Lombardi Street, China Town and Alcatraz.
3 BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS
Boston is the place to visit if you want to walk the streets that whisper secrets of the American Revolutionary War. Check out Paul Revere’s house, the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum, and Beacon Hill. Boston also is known for its food, one must try traditional Boston Cream Pie and Boston Baked Beans and don’t forget the New England clam chowder and the lobster!
4 NASHVILLE, TENNSESSEE
Nashville, known for its country and honky-tonks, is steadily becoming a very hip place to visit and even live. Hot chicken is a local favorite, so when visiting, digging in is a must. Check out the Grand Ole Opry, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and the Parthenon.
5 MIAMI, FLORIDA
Prime travel months are december through may when the chance of hurricanes are low. Miami was found bya a woman and is known for its Cuban influences. In fact, it isn’t a trip to Miami if you don’t try a traditional Cuban sammie. Florida also is famous for its pristine white beaches and The Everglades National Park.
6 CHICAGO, ILLINOIS
Visit the Willis Tower, you can see an amazing four states on a clear day from the Skydeck, the deck floor is completely see-through! Chicago is famous for its deep dish pizza and cheesecake. Make sure to check out the “bean,” or more accurately, Cloud Gate in Millennium Park.
7 SEATTLE, WASHINGTON
Seattle is a vibrant city known for diverse food options, lots and lots of rain, and, of course, Starbucks. Visit the original Starbucks at 1st and Pike and then take a stroll through the lively and vibrant Pike Place Market. No trip to Seattle is complete without seeing the Space Needle. There is an admission fee to climb the tower but it be worth it. Do not forget check out the Chihuly Garden and Glass art exhibit.
8 SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA
San Diego has the perfect weather for strolls on the beach or on Mission Beach Boardwalk. also makes for a great time at the San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, and San Diego Bay. Not too far from San Diego is Legoland, which is a family favorite.
Check out the local food scene. Do not miss Taco Tuesday in SD. In fact, you might just want to plan your trip around tacos.
9 AUSTIN, TEXAS
Another great locale for more temperate weather is Austin. Dig into some mouth-watering barbeque at one of the many local joints and then enjoy some live music in the “Live Music Capital of the World.” Check out the Instagrammable I Love You So Much wall then consider a “weird homes” tour. You might get a glimpse of Elijah Wood’s home.
10 SAVANNAH, GEORGIA
The best time to travel is fall, but spring in Georgia is known for its beautiful blossoming flowers. One of the best things to do in Savannah is to experience its rich history by walking through the Historic District. The south and Savannah are known for fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, and fried chicken. Wrap up your stay in the south by marveling at the Spanish moss in Forsyth Park.

Tribune Tower

Buckingham Fountain
One of the largest fountains in the world. Built in a rococo wedding cake style. It is meant to allegorically represent Lake Michigan. Regular water shows and evening color-light shows. During the winter, it is decorated with festival lights.
Adler Planetarium
It is America's first planetarium. It was opened to the public on May 12, 1930. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987. The Adler's mission is to inspire exploration and understanding of the Universe.
Grant Park
A large urban park (319 acres or 1.29 km²). The park is often called Chicago's front yard. Contains performance venues, gardens, art work, sporting, and harbor facilities. It hosts public gatherings, and several large annual events.
Lincoln Park Zoo
A free 35-acre (14 ha) zoo. Was founded in 1868, making it one of the oldest zoos in the U.S. One of a few free admission zoos in the U.S. About 1,100 animals from 200 species. Home a burr oak tree which dates to 1830, three years before the city was founded.
Museum of Science and Industry
The largest science museum in the Western Hemispher. Features a full-size replica coal mine, a German submarine (U-505) captured during World War II, a 3,500-square-foot (330 m2) model railroad, the first diesel-powered streamlined stainless-steel passenger train (Pioneer Zephyr), and the Apollo 8 spacecraft that carried the first humans to orbit the Moon.
Willis Tower
Or Sears Tower, is a 108-story, 1,451-foot (442 m) skyscraper. At the time of its completion in 1973, it was the tallest building in the world. One of the most popular tourist destinations, Over one million people visit its observation deck each year.
Shedd Aquarium
An indoor public aquarium that opened on May 30, 1930. Contains over 25,000 fish, 1500 species including fish, marine mammals, birds, snakes, amphibians, and insects. Was the first inland aquarium with a permanent saltwater fish collection.
Millennium Park
A public park originally intended to celebrate the millennium. Planning began in October 1997. Construction in October 1998, and Millennium Park was opened in a ceremony on July 16, 2004, four years behind schedule.
Navy Pier
A 3,300-foot-long (1,010 m) pier. Was built in 1916 at a cost of $4.5 million. one of the most visited attractions in the entire Midwestern United States and is Chicago's number one tourist attraction.

Chicago is the third most populous city in the United States. And is located on the shores of freshwater Lake Michigan. Chicago is the second most visited city in the United States after New York City.
LOCATION
Chicago is located on the southwestern shores of Lake Michigan. It is the principal city in the Chicago metropolitan area. The city lies beside huge freshwater Lake Michigan, and two rivers—the Chicago River and the Calumet River. Chicago's history and economy are closely tied to its Lake Michigan. When Chicago was founded in 1837, most of the early building was around the mouth of the Chicago River.
HISTORY
Chicago was incorporated as a city in 1837.
After the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, which destroyed several square miles and left more than 100,000 homeless, the city made a concerted effort to rebuild.[7] The construction boom accelerated population growth throughout the following decades, and by 1900 Chicago was one of the five largest cities in the world.
In the mid-18th century, the area was inhabited by a Native American tribe known as the Potawatomi. The first known non-indigenous permanent settler in Chicago was Jean Baptiste Point du Sable. He arrived in the 1780s. He is commonly known as the Founder of Chicago.
POPULATION
More than half the population of the state lives in the Chicago metropolitan area. Chicago is one of the United States' most densely populated major cities. Chicago has a Hispanic or Latino population of 28.9%. In religion 71% Christians, 7% identity with other faiths, and 22% have no religious affiliation. Chicago also has many Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, and others.
EDUCATION
Since the 1850s, Chicago has been a world center of higher education and research with several universities. These institutions consistently rank among the top Universities in the United States.
CLIMATE
The city lies within the humid continental climate zone and experiences four distinct seasons. Summers are warm to very hot and often humid. In July daily average of 24.3 °C. In a normal summer, temperatures can exceed 32 °C as many as 21 days and occasionally reaches 38 °C. The normal winter high from December through March, with January and February being the coldest months and overnight temperatures can drop below zero degrees.
COMMUNICATION
Chicago is a major transportation hub in the United States. Chicago is one of the largest hubs of passenger rail service in the nation.

AROUND THE CITY

Operated by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), the Chicago “L”, short for elevated, is the easiest, and often fastest, way to get around the city. Running over 224 miles of track, travelers can ride the Red, Blue, Brown, Green, Orange, Purple, Pink or Yellow lines to get pretty much anywhere in the city. The Brown, Green, Orange, Pink and Purple Line Express trains all travel to the Loop in downtown Chicago.
Of course, there are busses, taxis and bicycle rentals as well throughout the city.

The government of the City of Chicago is divided into executive and legislative branches. The Mayor of Chicago is the chief executive, elected by general election for a term of four years. The mayor appoints commissioners and other officials.
ARCHITECTURE
The destruction caused by the Great Chicago Fire led to the largest building boom in the history of the nation. In 1885, the first steel-framed high-rise building, the Home Insurance Building, rose in the city. which would then be followed by many other cities around the world. Today, Chicago's skyline is among the world's tallest and densest. Some of the United States' tallest towers are located in Chicago; Willis Tower formerly Sears Tower.
ECONOMY
Chicago has the third-largest gross metropolitan product in the United States. The city has also been rated as having the most balanced economy in the United States.The city is an international hub for finance, commerce, industry, technology, telecommunications, and transportation. The Chicago Loop is the central business district. The North Side is the most densely populated residential section of the city, and many high-rises are located on this side of the city along the lakefront.

The Willis Tower, built as and still commonly referred to as the Sears Tower, is a 110-story, 1,450-foot skyscraper in Chicago, Illinois. At completion in 1973, it surpassed the World Trade Center towers in New York to become the tallest building in the world, a title it held for nearly 25 years; it remained the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere until the completion of a new building at the World Trade Center site in 2014. The building is considered a seminal achievement for its designer Fazlur Rahman Khan.
The Willis Tower is the second-tallest building in the United States and the Western hemisphere – and the 16th-tallest in the world. More than one million people visit its observation deck each year, making it one of Chicago's most-popular tourist destinations. The structure was renamed in 2009 by the Willis Group as part of its lease on a portion of the tower's space.
As of December 2013, the building's largest tenant is United Airlines, which moved its corporate headquarters from the United Building at 77 West Wacker Drive in 2012 and today occupies around 20 floors with its headquarters and operations center.
The Willis Tower observation deck, called the Skydeck, opened on June 22, 1974. Located on the tower's 103rd floor, it is 1,353 feet (412.4 m) high, making it the highest observation deck in the United States and one of Chicago's most famous tourist attractions. Tourists can experience how the building sways on a windy day. They also can see far over the plains of Illinois and across Lake Michigan to Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin on a clear day. Elevators take tourists to the top in about 60 seconds, and allow tourists to feel the pressure change as they rise up. The Skydeck competes with the John Hancock Center's observation floor a mile and a half away, which is 323 feet (98.5 m) lower. Some 1.7 million tourists visit the Skydeck annually. A second Skydeck on the 99th floor is also used if the 103rd floor is closed. The tourist entrance can be found on the south side of the building along Jackson Boulevard.
In January 2009, Willis Tower's owners began a major renovation of the Skydeck, including the installation of retractable glass balconies, which can be extended approximately 4 feet (1.2 m) from the facade of the 103rd floor, overlooking South Wacker Drive. The all-glass boxes, informally dubbed The Ledge, allow visitors to look through the gla8ss floor to the street 1,353 feet (412 m) below. The boxes, which can bear 5 short tons (4.5 metric tons) of weight, opened to the public on July 2, 2009.[47][48] On May 29, 2014, the laminated glass covering the floor of one of the glass boxes shattered while visitors were sitting on it, but caused no injuries. The broken glass was replaced within days, and tourist operations resumed as before.
