1. Newport State Park Ellison Bay
Newport State Park is a 2,373-acre Wisconsin state park at the tip of Door Peninsula near Ellison Bay, Wisconsin. Protecting 11 miles of shoreline on Lake Michigan, Newport is Wisconsin's only wilderness-designated state park. In 2017, the International Dark-Sky Association named Newport a Dark-sky preserve. The park is open year round and can be accessed via Wisconsin state highway 42.

Interstate 39 is a highway in the midwestern United States. I-39 runs from Normal, Illinois at I-55 to Wisconsin Highway 29 in Rib Mountain, Wisconsin, approximately six miles southwest of Wausau. I-39 was designed to replace U.S. Route 51 , which in the early 1980s was one of the busiest two-lane highways in the United States. I-39 was built in the 1980s and 1990s. In Illinois, the route has a total length of 140.82 miles . In Wisconsin, I-39 has a distance of 182 miles . Hoffman Hills State Recreation Area is a 707-acre unit of the Wisconsin state park system near Menomonie. A network of trails provides access to wooded hills, prairie, and wetlands. There are three picnic areas and a 60-foot observation tower. Visitors are allowed to gather edible mushrooms, nuts, and berries, and hunting is allowed in the fall.

The Kettle Moraine State Forest is a state forest in southeastern Wisconsin. The chief feature of the reserve is the Kettle Moraine, a highly glaciated area. The area contains very hilly terrain and glacial landforms, such as kettles, kames and eskers. The 56,000-acre forest is divided into two large and three small units, which are spread across a hundred miles. The forest includes 250 miles of hiking trails, almost 100 miles of cross-country ski trails, 130 miles of equestrian trails, 150 miles of snowmobile trails, 75 miles of off-road bicycle trails including 30 miles of singletrack trail, and 750 campsites.All units include a portion of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail and most units have horse/snowmobile trails. The Apostle Islands are a group of 22 islands in Lake Superior, off the Bayfield Peninsula in northern Wisconsin. The majority of the islands are located in Ashland County—only Sand, York, Eagle, and Raspberry Islands are located in Bayfield County. All the islands except for Madeline Island are part of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. The islands in Ashland County are all in the Town of La Pointe, except for Long Island, which is in the Town of Sanborn, while those in Bayfield County are in the Towns of Russell and Bayfield.

7. Porcupine Mountains State Park Ontonagon
The Porcupine Mountains, or Porkies, are a group of small mountains spanning the northwestern Upper Peninsula of Michigan in Ontonagon and Gogebic counties, near the shore of Lake Superior. The Porcupine Mountains were named by the native Ojibwa people, supposedly because their silhouette had the shape of a crouching porcupine. They are home to the most extensive stand of old growth northern hardwood forest in North America west of the Adirondack Mountains, spanning at least 31,000 acres . In these virgin forests, sugar maple, American basswood, eastern hemlock, and yellow birch are the most abundant tree species. The area is part of the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park.
