With a population of nearly 1 million, the city has developed abruptly since the 21st century, recording the highest population growth of any city in the country. Yongin is home to Everland and Caribbean Bay, South Korea's most popular amusement and water parks. The city is also home to the Korean Folk Village, the largest of its kind.

Korean Folk Village is a popular tourist destination for both Koreans and foreigners. It is located near Everland, South Korea's largest amusement park. The purpose of Korean Folk Village is to display elements of traditional Korean life and culture. There are multiple sections to the park. There are numerous replicas of traditional houses of the different social classes from various regions.

Located at the Everland Resort in Yongin, a city in Gyeonggi-do, it receives 7.3 million visitors annually and was ranked sixteenth in the world for amusement park attendance in 2014. Along with its main attractions, Everland includes a zoo and water park known as Caribbean Bay. Everland is operated by Samsung C&T Corporation , which is a subsidiary of the Samsung Group. This park was formerly called Jayeon Nongwon which roughly translates to natural farm. Its former English name was Farmland.

    Yongin Daejanggeum Park , previously known as MBC Dramia is an outdoor film set owned by Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation and the city of Yongin in Gyeonggi province, South Korea. Built in 2005, it was opened to tourists in 2011 for the first time. It comprises a total area of 2,500,000 m², out of which actual sets take up 165,000 m². Its current name was based on the titular character of MBC's 2003 hit drama, while the previous one was created from the words drama and utopia. Series like Moon Embracing the Sun, Dong Yi and Queen Seondeok were shot here. The complex features permanent sets imitating buildings from the Korean Three Kingdoms, Goryeo and Joseon, and functions as an interactive center for hallyu.
