Arequipa, Peru Documentary 2018
Arequipa, my home for the past year, is quite an amazing place. Its not Mexico, its not Australia, it definelty not the USA. Its Arequipa. In this documentary we look into the lives of the people of Arequipa and the overall differences you may encounter if you were to ever visit or think about living in such a wonderful place. Peru is a very big and diverse place and having explored a large majority of it I have to say that I feel most at home in Arequipa.
Hope you enjoy and share the video so I can continue to create more videos.

Our journey to Peru 2019 (Arequipa, Colca Canyon, Uros, Machu Picchu,...)
We´ve been to Peru from 23. August to 12. September. After arriving in Lima we flew straight to Arequipa. We´ve seen the Condors in the Colca Canyon and enjoyed the city in southern Peru. We traveled to Puno, took a boat ride to the Uros on the Titicaca Lake and finally arrived in Cusco to see the magnificent ruins of Machu Picchu.
The whole footage was filmed on my 5D Mark IV and the DJI Mavic Air for the drone shots.
Music and SFX from epidemic sound.
Enjoy!
Arequipa, Peru Travel Photography Vlog
On today's travel vlog in Arequipa, Jeff almost got himself arrested.
Arequipa, Peru photos on my instagram: @brendanvanson.
Chris' Channel:
We made it to Arequipa early this morning. It's cool coming back to Arequipa as I used to both live here and run tours in the city. So, it's really fun to be back in a city I'm really familiar with.
Jeff and I ran around and did chores all morning, and then we took our travel photography workshop group to the Santa Catalina Monastery which is one of the most photogenic places in all of Peru. We took people around the monastery, shooting photos and working on composition and some advanced photography techniques.
After leaving Santa Catalina Monastery, we headed to the plaza de armas in Arequipa to photograph sunset. We went up to my classic spot above the plaza to shoot sunset and the blue hour. It's such a cool location, and the light was amazing.
I convinced Jeff to go stand on a rooftop that was apparently off-limits. We got a pretty cool photo, which is the thumbnail for this travel vlog, but Jeff got questioned by the police. We thought he might get arrested. Honestly, the images are so cool it probably would have been worth it.
Then, after photography in Arequipa's Plaza de Armas, we headed to dinner.
Tomorrow, there'll be another travel vlog from Peru. We're headed into the Colca Canyon. Stay tuned.

Arequipa Peru The White City - Arequipa Travel Guide
#Arequipa is known as the White City of Peru.
Its a cradle of art, architecture and a historic bastion for intellectuals and writers.
Many of the buildings are made from sillar, a white #volcanic rock. It reflects an average of 300 days of sun a year, giving the city a bright, luminescent quality..
The city center offers dozens of examples of colonial architecture, including the Casona Flores del Campo, the Jesuit Cloisters, and especially the Santa Catalina Convent and La Recoleta Monastery.
Both are repositories for some of South Americas finest Hispano-American religious art.
Vast expanses of sierra and cone-shaped volcanoes surround the city with the imposing El Misti visible from most parks and plazas..
The #ColcaCanyon is about 125 miles or 200 km from Arequipa, five hours by bus.
Its one of the deepest canyons in the world. Steep, pre-Inca terraces, herds of llamas, families of the mighty Andean #Condor and the colorful dress of Colcas indigenous inhabitants draw visitors for multi-day sightseeing tours to combine with a visit to Arequipa.
Treks can also be made into the depths of the #Canyon, and the river is now popular with white water rafters and kayakers.
Arequipa is also known for its cuisine, including a flavorful chowder-like soup of river shrimp, ocopa, a spicy sauce served on potatoes and rocoto relleno, a fiery relative of the capsicum stuffed with meat, tomatoes, olives, eggs and cheese. These and other specialties can be found at picanterias, traditional Peruvian eating houses.

Magical Peru #10: Arequipa
We first arrived in Lima and spent a couple of weeks studying Spanish in the capital (please watch the vlog Living in Lima) then we headed to the North of Peru and visited Trujillo, Chiclayo and some archaeological sites, such as tombs, piramids and ancient cities. Now we go South and our first stop is in Arequipa, la Ciudad Blanca (white city)!
Arequipa, founded on the 15th of August, 1540, is the capital and largest city of the province of Arequipa and the seat of the Constitutional Court. Also known as the White City, Arequipa has 845 touthands inhabitants. Arequipa is just below the edge of the Altiplano, at 2380 meters above sea level and surrounded by three impressive volcanoes. It's Peru's second most important city (after Lima), and the second most popular among tourists (after Cuzco). The city is part of the so called Southern Peru Tourist Corridor, together with Nazca, Puno and Cusco. In contrast to these other cities, Arequipa is an example of the Spanish and mestizo culture developed in Peru. There are no Inca artifacts or ruins in the city as the Arequipa was a suporter of Spanish colonization.
We travelled around Peru by bus with Cruz del Sur, probably the best bus company in Perú. They connect the major cities and small towns, and the buses are very good, with confortable seats, on board service and reliable bus drivers.
In Arequipa we stayed at the Crismar Hotel, right at the city centre. From Arequipa is easy to get to Chivay, Canion de Colca, Puno and Lake Titicaca.
On the next video we will travel from Arequipa to Chivay by bus, crossing the desert and finding llamas, vicuñas, locals selling coca leafs and even the volcano El Misti!
Brasileiro no Peru

PERU MOUNTAINS DRIVE BACK TO AREQUIPA DAY 734 | TRAVEL VLOG IV
Peru mountains drive back to Arequipa. We woke up in the Peru mountains today. Unfortunately we're leaving already but the drive back from the Peru mountains to Arequipa still has many interesting stops. We first spot some condors, the biggest bird in the world next to the albatros. Also we learn about quinoa and visit Colca canyon. It was a really nice drive from the Peru mountains back to Arequipa. Unfortunately I got sick but luckily we have an awesome new guest vlogger Marieke! Thank you for taking over Marieke.

When I'm not traveling you can hang out with me in my home town Amsterdam. So if you always wanted to travel in Amsterdam this is the place to be to get an insight in the local life without actually having to travel. Enjoy!
FAQ's:
Q Where are you from?
A I am born in former Yugoslavia. Mom is Serbian, Dad is Bosnian. During the '90's war we came to the Netherlands and I got Dutch nationality. Have been living in Amsterdam for over 5 years.
Q How can you afford to travel so much?
A I saved for 3 years while working full time and now travel vlogging is my job. I work together with tourism agencies but also do some freelance work on the side. You can watch this video: and this one: to learn more about my story.
Q What camera do you film with and what editing software do you use?
A Canon G7X Mark II and Final Cut Pro X
Q (Why) Are you vegetarian?
A I'm vegetarian but not strict. I don't eat any meat, fish, cooked/boiled or fried eggs. I gradually became a vegetarian over the course of 15 years because I disliked the taste of meat more and more. After doing a yoga teacher training in 2015 I also quit fish and the eggs. No matter my food preferences I have no issues with other people not being vegetarian. I don't judge others and kind of expect the same favor from others concerning my own food preferences. It makes for a more friendly world :-)
Q Why do you usually travel alone?
A Because my friends have jobs with limited holidays, kids and partners. Also I really like exploring on my own.
Q Why do you love India so much?
